So they are finally disassembled, next stop the powdercoaters to turn the lower legs black. I also have to call racetech as I am going with their .85 springs instead of the recommended .90's so I want to go over the valving in realtime with a tech before assembly...

Not today but ongoing and why I have been dormant. started to clean the bike and ended up going full mental on the bike.
Unbolted the tail fairing and removed every piece of equipment in the tail. Saw mosfet installed.
Made templates of the frame from card stock.
Build a custom monocoque tail from card stock.
Been impregnating the card with resin for three days because I forgot to warm the resin on the first try.
Once its hard ill unbolt the tail and test fit it before I make a buck. Photos if asked

Tore my carbs off to do tps mod and change the pilot jets. Found that my front pilot jet holes were all clogged. Couldn't blow through it. The bike seem to start cold OK. Will see after I put it back together.

Trying to find the right shims for the needles. #4 as stated on another post was incorrect. Will go to hardware store with the jet tomorrow and find the right one .

Made a template for the mounts and added to my buck. this one is looking pretty good.
For laughs: last night was cold so I got the bike warmed up and brought the seat inside work so I would have a nice ride back. Well... I pulled up to a light with my wife and her friend showed up. I pulled between them and gave it a rev. My wife had the idea to use me to hand her a pacage frim one car to another. Well light went green. I went to go and bike died. dead crank but no bang. Gas ok charge ok fuses good. tore off my faring on the sidewalk to check the connections all good. WTF!! Im standing there talking to my wife and I look at the bike. Gonna have to tow it... I said. I checked the eletrical again right up to the handlebar. You gotta be kidding me! I must have bumped the killswitch enough to have it flip right as I took off. bike fired right up.... lesson learned.

I've had the front cbr calipers and mc for a while now, just installing the rear one to match, while I'm doing the new lines as well. I may want to try a wee bit larger front mc eventually.

Adjusting the left mirror, came right off in my hand. Those Suzuki parts, that's how they can sell their bikes so cheap.
Have one coming from ebay for $30. The only real pain is the grinding/filing to get the stem to set at the same angle as the right side.

I have CBR954 calipers and master on the VTR, and CBR600F4i calipers and master on my VFR800, and I do prefer the feel of the 954 parts, which have smaller caliper pistons and a bigger master than the 600, for a firmer but less bitey feel. I now have a CBR600RR master on my VFR which is the same size (17.5mm or something) as the 954, and that is pretty good.

Those are the same mc's I have been pondering. Thanks for your personal input. :^)

Reinstalled 2 long stock v-stacks after trying 2 short ones. For me, I prefer the longer ones, feels like more grunt from down low through the rev range without any noticeable loss up top. It does seem to hit the rev limiter sooner though. Maybe.
While in the air box I figured, "Why not!", and did the Burnie Morgan mod to the filter. Time will tell how this may work out for the hawk.

If anyone would please follow the link:
https://www.superhawkforum.com/forum...l-maybe-34189/

Not today but last night I got the tail mostly roughed out in foam and would really like suggestions as I am not a fan of how it looks right now.

Ordered a new set of Tri Oval cans and link pipes.

Stay tuned for pictures next week when they arrive and are fitted .

Also ordered a new rear hugger as the old one broke a mounting tab.

About time the old girl got some attention.

Modified the valve train.... left it in the rain for the whole day. tool 100 lbs off the bike and proceded to say I knew it. I also proceded to scream my bike dealers name as he told me my engine was fine yesterday... Because I was sure the cam chain was noisy the whole time ive owned it and wanted to be sure it wasnt the cct...

I wasnt at speed is there even half a chance that the valves are good or should I just pull the engine?

I took off up a hill tire kicked out a bit in second. I said oh well got a whole tire and rim coming today so ill just take it easy. half way to work going down hill being easy due to rain my CCT gave up on life. I herd a clangy loose sound. Probably the chain riding over the cam sprocket. pulled the clutch in same sound yes changes with engine speed. killed it and rolled it to a stop. gave it a turn just to be sure. Had to leave it in the rain the whole day. That bike is the best machine I have ever had and I had to leave it there to fill up with water while I went to work on foot... Got a ride from a friend two miles up the road....
Im a few beers in btw...
Finished work and my father in law helped me load it up. tore it down and turned it over with a wrench. Chain is dancing over the exehaust cam. I am scared to look inside the head.

You don't need to pull the head. Just check valve clearances. If they are fine, you might have got lucky.

Even though they have been done for two weeks, I finally got my fork legs and triples back from the powdercoaters. Now I just need the time for the rebuild...

I installed this HONDA cbr 1000 1000R Rectifier Voltage 08/2012 mosfet regulator. I checked mine the other day because of some of the posts here and it was charging 17.8v. That kinda worried me so I ordered one off ebay for $30 free shipping. Had to cut and solder wires. The new one runs 13.5-13.8v at idle.
I checked the one on the bike originally and the resistance was within .05 ohms of each other. This must not be good enough or it wouldn't be passing soo much voltage. It was also rather hot to the touch.

The new 1 on the other hand doesn't even get luke warm.

Sabermamoth do the stopper mod on your cct's check posts by tweety. It is easy to do and easy to end a ride suddenly if not. Mine gave lots of warning but I was told it was a normal sound.... Tisk tisk tisk.

I gotta find out how. I also need to rotate the cam back as its off several teeth. When I turned it with a wrench Chain glided over the sprocket.

Fast guy I wanna race you. as In who gets done first. I want to bet on it. Just for fun. If I win you gotta post up a video of you riding before the snow. If you win Ill post up a video of a ride through some of the amazing scenery up here before the snow.

Got my swinger in today!. nice tire and rim on it. he literally pulled the pins and sent it minus the shock. Maybe since my bike is screwed up ill see where she lands No photos. Wife had my phone...
