What did you do with your SuperHawk today?

I shook it down for 65~ miles to check the Eastern Beav. harness, the zx6 r/r , and the new air filter. Good times.

Absolutely nothing.

zanoj883 12-28-2011 03:12 AM

drove to work...68*F...drove home 31*F...

98VTRrider 12-28-2011 08:35 AM

Nothing so far.....Hopefully working on one, gotta put the forks back on, airbox, radiators, bodywork, add fluids, start it up and sync the carbs.

On the other, hopefully only riding...santa brought me some new Joe rocket alter ego 2 pants I need to test out.

CrankenFine 12-28-2011 01:30 PM

Managed to get about halfway thru 8541's carb set up on a spare pair of carbs. Doing the single hole slide mod to both since they will run with Dr Honda velocity stacks when complete. Had to go buy some new epoxe 'cause the old stuff I had on hand would not set up hard.

[QUOTE some new Joe rocket alter ego 2 pants I need to test out.[/QUOTE]
Hopefully, you'll be able to wear those pants for a long time without actually testing them out.

Stared at it for 15 mins sitting in the garage after walking through the snow and -25 degree windchill to get out there....thats about all i'll do with it for the next 3 months...sigh.

speedkelly@aol.com 12-28-2011 05:19 PM

Rode into work. Socal weather around 50 degrees when I rode in, 13 mile comute. Ride my bike to work everyday, whatever the weather. No snow to deal with, sometimes the rain can get pretty bad, once in a while!

8541Hawk 12-28-2011 09:29 PM

Well if I can ever get the video editing software I'm trying out to work properly, I'll show you.... ;)

GlockPointer 12-28-2011 09:41 PM

I put on another 250miles and am loving the new upgrades. We did 101 miles in 101 minutes! Only 5miles of highway, the rest crazy backraods. On the way back we took it easier, no probs of any kind.

YOUNGJESTER 12-28-2011 11:10 PM

lol 8541 hawk lol ... well I just dropped my flashlight in my tank while setting up my fuel sensor float. I am calling it quits... won't be riding till friday now .
on a positive note , I put all the little parts that came today on and now I just need my flashlight back. goodtimes....... hawk convert the clips to .mov

Another 200~ miles and found a few things like low beam out, missing exhaust nut, bent brake pedal. Those things are being rectified and I found the lower shock adjustment, I had thought it to be on the left and impossible to get. The PO must have been a big dude on account of the settings cranked up all the way.

Squid 01-01-2012 04:20 AM

Well after alot of debate of moding the bike, I rebuilt the carbs and started putting it back together in the kitchen today. Ordered a 520 chain and sprocket kit and will be saving for the wheels and tires and call it quits. The bike is what is, if I want more then RC51 here I come.

And the stock spring weight setting is 280lbs. KD is the only guy that I have ever met that can ride the stock spring. The little click ring is only a height adjustment. The stock shock is not adjustable for rider weight.

I got out on mine yesterday too! What a great day! It was 74F when I got back to the shop.

kbyers 01-02-2012 04:45 PM

Pulled stock front end off, 900rr shocks sent to Jaime. Now we play the waiting game.

franz125 01-03-2012 10:14 AM

Changed ignition key ring and waiting for Hotcams shims arriving:rolleyes:

I had to ride it 80 miles to lighten up the tank, since I'd filled it yesterday. It actually ran really strong, but I put them back in anyway.;)

Been there before but I usually find them right after I mount the tank.... ;)

aja 01-03-2012 11:17 AM

I ride every day, you jelly? I don't know how some of you guys can deal with snow and ice, I get uncomfortable if its below 50

That's what I did the last time, about a year ago, but this time I guess I got them "more out of the way so I wouldn't knock them off the bench by accident".

Breathing all those carb spray and gas fumes probably doesn't help either.

Yeah, that is why I now put them in the airbox when I take it off...... that way I have to see them.... ;)

installed the Hyperwhite bulb by Netami in the dipshit aisle at Pepboys. Looks just like the PIAA that burned out. 14.99 for this one. Nice white color, not really any blue.60/55w

Got my fork seals from Allballs. Gotta work up the gumption to do these my self. Am looking to upgrade the springs at that time, and by then I will go with gold valves too. I think a full fork swap would be unnessasary for a man of my riding skill.

You been reading lately?

...dipshit aisle --- I'm using that in the future.

GlockPointer 01-06-2012 10:56 PM

Yeah you know the aisle to wich I referred!

GlockPointer 01-06-2012 11:02 PM

After midnight but I'm counting it. I adjusted my headlight and went on a barhop-testride. The pepdudes headlight bulb is BRIGHT. Still just 60/55w but BRIGHT.

On the way home at 30mph I lost the frontend a little around a curve and had to stomp on the ground to keep afloat. Lucky for the beer or I might have overthought the situation.:congrats::cheers:

zmaniv 01-07-2012 02:57 PM

Rode 150 canyon miles today. I'm tired

GlockPointer 01-08-2012 05:54 PM

Walked right by and took the XR out for a couple hundred miles.

theosagekid 01-08-2012 07:54 PM

Adjusted the chain tension and made sure the battery charger/tender had a good solid and clean connection.

The next couple months are going to bring new chain/sprocket set and battery.

Question: how many teeth do I drop off the rear sprocket to get my rpm down around 35-3600 @ 75mph?
Currently, at 4000rpm I'm indicating just under 75, and I've seldom done better than 30mpg at that speed. I'd like a teeny bit of "no-brainer" improvement in fuel consumption.
Once that's done, what do I do to solve the fact that I will have screwed up my speedo readings along with the sprocket change.
I've heard of "speedo healers."
What are they, how do they work, and how much do they cost?
Should I just forget the whole thing?
Should I take my cabin fever to a different thread? Sorry for blathering.
So many questions, so little brain......

GlockPointer 01-08-2012 08:18 PM

:threadjack:

Speedo healer is about 100$, would be all I know about them. For much less I could go to a stock size rear sprocket and be good. I have +2 teeth on the rear sprocket now.

GlockPointer 01-12-2012 08:25 PM

I did Dehnings mod and installed some delrin mirror spacers I got from Budapest somewhere.

Damn those spacers are ugly, they should have come with paper bags to cover them up. The gaps are so bad I'm considering black RTV to the rescue. Plus side; they let you see who is about to nail you. I consider them a work in progress.

Oh, and in about five weeks my computer guy( brother-in-law) will be in town and then I willpost about fitty pics.:evillaugh:

GlockPointer 01-16-2012 07:43 PM

Another 200~ miles including sustained triple digit speeds. Got to follow an old-timer on a S1000RR, he was dragging pegs at 55 years old. What a day.

superchickencornermonster 01-17-2012 06:11 AM

I did 270 miles last Saturday. All back roads. Good times.
