Scottiemann goes streetfighter
Got the oil cooler mounted up tonight, I still have to trim all the brackets but I gotta mount of the rads before I know what to trim and what not to trim. I'm also going to be cutting off the lower mount points from the oil cooler as I wont be needing them.

And theres still plenty of room at full lock but I still have to trim down the steering stops on the CBR triples atleast a little

thanks ken!
I have tomorrow off work and nothing to bother me (besides a 1pm dentist apointment) so hopefully I can make some major progress tonight and tomorrow. I'll post some pics tonight but I'll try and post more tomorrow when I have daylight.
More parts came in today, got my AN fittings for the oil cooler, still trying to figure out a game plan of how I'm going to hook up the fittings to the engine. Drill and tap or some how utilize the factory "bolt clamp" method, I dont know yet I have to do some research and find out what my options are...
I am also now the proud owner (I hope) of an ignitech ICU, sparker TCIP4. I know that one of the many times I've fried my factory type R/R's it either took out the factory ICU or wires going from the ICU to the tach... so fresh wiring, fresh ICU, fresh tach makes scottiemann a happy boy

Alright I'm pretty much done roughing up the outer left side bracket. Dont worry about the massive amount of aluminum bracketry thats going on right now, When I'm all set and happy with all the bracketry the space beteen mount points will be a lot less wide and everything will look all nice and clean
for obvious reasons(see pics). Heres a bunch of pics from different angles so you guys can see how far they stick out and what they look like, and by they I mean the left side... lol

Got the right side mounted up, ran into a small issue with the upper hose connection which was hitting the frame so I took both off and bent the brackets a little bit so theres enough room for that hose. I have a solution for the inside brackets but I have to go to the hardware store to get some things for it...
Did a bunch of research earlier today on how I'm going to hook up the oil cooler lines so I ordered up some "weld on" bungs and I'm going to hack up the factory connections.
So more parts ordered, more parts shipped and more parts arrived today...

Out with the **** and in with the ****** awesome!!!
The old rear rotor was a cheap chinese ebay peice-o-*****... no pads could get a hold of it and all it was good for was rusting. I can tell you that I really know how to use my front brake
now that I have a good rear rotor its time for rebuilding my master, flushing the system, and swapping out the factory res for one of James' HRC style deletes. thanks James

Alright got the cylinder head coolant outputs cleaned and painted. heavy corrosion again, atleast aluminum's white oxidation is easier to clean up then rust...
and BTW is this supposed to be an O-ring?!?!?!?! **** specialty O-rings (square rings?), I'm going to the hardware store and buying a beefy *** O-ring for a quarter of the price

FML... exhaust is off ready for wrap, clipons are stripped read for fork removal, top triple needs to be drilled for bar risers, lower triple needs steering stops ground down. Rear peg mounts removed ready for sanding/paint....
I'm too sober/exhausted for this ****...

Alright, so, for a few days I ran out of motivation... work beat me up and I've been exhausted. I just spent the long weekend at Cape Cod with the family and my son, had a great time relaxing and doing what 3 year olds like doing lol....I feel refreshed
Tonight even though I'm in my garage I'm not doing work on the bike... I'm clearing my head, coming up with a game plan for the next week or so and getting mentally prepared for the week to come...
And hopefully by the next two weeks sometime I'll get to wiring...

This is just me, but I find having a dry erase board in my garage really helps. For whatever project(s) you have going on at the time, just start writing things down as they pop in your head, then mark 'em in order of importance. Erasing items off the white board feels awesome
Ef the white board mate, I just write on the beer fridge in the Man Cave.
That way whatever I write is always in my face.
Part numbers, phone numbers, things to do.
It's all there and viewed very often.
Funny how when you write things down they get done.
Lookin good Scottie, can't wait to see it done.

Alright so the other day I started hacking up my factory oil cooler connections until the last of my 3 cheapo grinding wheels wore out/shattered for my rotary tool. As my dad took his angle grinder and belt sander to the Cape, I was done with that for the moment...
Spent most of this morning hardware/tool shopping. bought myself an angle grinder and belt sander from harbor freight... I know its cheap but for $30 and $80 respectively with a 2 year warranty, they will pay for themselves by the end of 2 years. Also got some spacer bushings I need for the handlebar risers, grinding wheels for the rotary tool, silver solder for brazing so hopefully I will be done making the oil cooler connections by tonight.
I also wrapped the headers today and went to the dentist...
shes such a nice lady but I dont like her right now...

Oh yeah, but hopefully between the more efficient front facing rads and bigger oil cooler it'll be running a lot cooler then factory and the fan wont be kicking on all the time at stop lights...
That and once I get around to the bodywork I'll be making some fancy shrouds that will hopefully help redirect flow somewhere other then my nipples lol

So a lot of unexpected things in life have been interrupting my bike build lately(not money issues thankfully), but it turns out I have a life outside of my garage
crazy right? who woulda thunk it... lol
Anyways I owe you guys some updates so here they are...

Also working on finishing up my oil cooler connections on the engine side, they are all but brazed and painted.
weld-on/braze-on AN fittings

factory connections

stage 1 of cut down

stage 2 of cutdown

grind down the excess almost flush ready for the belt sander

factory fittings and AN fittings ready for brazing then paint

wish I had a countersink drill bit to match the diameters but hopefully dont run into problems... only time will tell

I'm painting my engine and pulled these off to make it easier to get all the corrosion off of them. I had some 20x3 mm o-rings and even though there really seemed to be enough room for these to fit inside. About 15 minutes ago, I was lightly tightening one down on the head and it cracked in half. They're very brittle.
Get the OEM o-rings. They are only a couple bucks each.

There was maybe...half the thickness of paper left to go when it broke. You might be okay with 2.38mm.
Your call man.
Partzilla doesn't let you buy just one "water joint" either. You have to buy two. Two water joints & two gaskets = $26.87 (w/shipping)
