Didn't register because of the shock from you saying sell the VTR.

I know how you feel !
Thank You.

I probably wont sell it. But Im returning it to having clipons and probably rearsets. So it will be for shorter rides.

I want to become an Observer level ride for IAM so the GSX is the best for that.

I lost my Dad 12 years ago . He was 81 and in the end told me it was time to go !

What is IAM ?

I have a good mate who goes down to Phillip Island and Track Marshalls, says it's great fun.

Glad to hear that you may keep the VTR .

Cheers from Up Above !

Working on something tedious while avoiding cleaning off road sealer and waiting for my Partzilla order with my new cooling system hoses to come in... Radiator and oil-cooler refurbishment. I straightened all the crushed or bent cooling fins, scuffed down the tanks and shot them with matte aluminum caliper paint... So far so good...

Might sell my VTR too. Looking at the Yamaha FZ-10, comfortable but still has some power.

Sorry for the loss of you dad NZ!

IAM motorcycle course review - Telegraph

The idea seems foreign to us. But I suppose it's a great idea. Still , can't imagine a group of Harley riders scrambling to sign up.

I'm all for rider training.

Motorcycling is regaining momentum here in Oz and I see some riders doing insane stuff.

I would love to see a system whereby the more training you do the authorities endorse your license to allow you to exceed speed limits by varying degrees.

Years ago in Oz you were allowed to exceed the limit if you could prove that you were doing it in a safe manner and environment.

Selfish and wishful I know , however it would make riding much more enjoyable.

I am about to do a California Superbike school on the Storm with some friends.

Should be fun and even if I only learn a couple of things about me and my bike it will be money well spent.

Well I have sadly decided to sell the Superhawk up and move on. My new GSX seems to do all I want and more on the road and in the future I may well get a CBR1000 for track days.

Will be selling up my Ohlins, braced swinger etc and selling the bike as stock as I can.

Almost done with road sealer removal, just the oil pan to be done. The steamer has really sped up the process! I am also cleaning up the starter while it's off the engine. Thank goodness I don't own a bead blasting tank I would go crazy cleaning every little thing!

The starter was disassembled, cleaned and painted... (My left arm for a bead blasting cabinet!) The front of the engine, now is as clean as humanly possible without a paint re-spray... The stator was swapped out of the OEM cover and installed in the newly powdercoated spare cover the installed with a fresh gasket

When I did my starter I got a can of my fav beverige and cut it to fit as a cover.

Helps to keep the road crud of the starter and looks O.K ! It has sort of started a few discussions with the general populace . Funny that , someone who knows about J.D spots the starter and it's on. Sometimes this happens at the most inappropriate time and one has to be rude.

The VTR is not as common in Oz and it has been mistaken for a Duc on more than one occasion.

I make no apologies, I built it to look like that, and it does, Sounds like it too !

The all time "Classic Was and still is "How come your Ducati doesn't rattle like my neighbours and the reply from me was , Because it's not a Ducati ! I then turned and walked away leaving the guy dumbfounded.

The VTR is a great machine that involves you !

If you really want to trick people, graft some Ducati 1098 bodywork onto a twin bike with motogp underbelly exhaust.

Of course the tank is a giveaway but this isn't a pic of the finished product.

There is an 848 in the Man Cave at the moment.

Aw man, is it just me or does everyone just want to put a sleeping bag right down the middle of that picture and sleep overnight? With all the smell of tires and seeping fuel systems. I cant be the only one who thinks this right?

wHow did you know the Bimota stinks of fuel ? Two great big PHM 40s doing their best to stink the place out.

Unfortunately the motor is coming out because it smokes more than a crack addict at the moment.

I enjoy my Cave, it's where I go at the end of the day to wind down, sort of like a therapy room that washes the daily grunge away.

I know you mentioned being from Japan, so your English is a little hard to follow in some of your posts. While you were riding, you ran out of fuel, then dropped the transmission into second gear and your rear tire locked up?

Not from Japan. Im a crappy english teacher in japan.

Never have a beer before I type. (big mistake.) When it comes to engines or things with them my brain goes mush.
Sorry. To put it into perspective my brain is thinking gas carb intake valve piston valve exehaust port dirty mufflear. (my brain always thinks about whats going on in the engine.) Long story's point is when it comes to motors I babble like igor in the lab.
Also My fat thumbs hit the wrong keys on my cell.
Finally I post around 2 am.
You were correct sir. outta gas.
I dropped it into second downshifting from a huge hill. Second and first always move with the engine. aka engine off clutch out wheel lock.

Also the below photo happened. GSX1250fa. Came up and the price was right, only got 6k miles on it. A full Holeshot stage 2 is in line for it, this gives it 130hp and 93ft.

Not sure of the future of the VTR. Keep or sell I dont know. Maybe dedicated track bike.
I am so sorry for your loss. I am in the same boat. My mom and dad are alive but on a slow glide path down. My wife and I have moved them from a retirement community, to assisted living and now we have moved them both to skilled nursing care. Each time we have moved them we have both downsized them and thrown out a mountain of trash. It really does take most of the available time. Over 60 years of marriage is stuffed in a storage unit.

It also changes your perspective. You can't take it with you. I also know that having stuff doesn't make you rich. If you no longer use the Superhawk, sell it to someone that will love it as much as you. You will still have the memories. I have been selling bikes, not because I don't love them but because I haven't been riding them. I sold my Norton. I thought I would never do that but in truth I was just not riding it, preferring to ride the VTR. Due to what has been happening in my life, I don't want to collect stuff for other people to have to deal with.

Went ham fist into the carbs.

Dropped a penny looking for the gas cap and been trying to find it all day.
Nah man took some other riders on here's advice and am tearing the carbs down. I also pulled that plate outta the intake carbon means a low velocity spot and carbon I saw. Port n polish is on the list for sure now. Btw fastguy why are you doing a deep clean n restore? I may be mistaken but you the guy has had his since 97?
