What did you do with your SuperHawk today?

I've been running Metz Z's for years...Z4's, Z'6. You'll be happy for a while. After about 5.5-6k these seem to have been heat cycled too many times and then get hard and give it up. Not saying don't do it, just trying to help. Kardiac and I both agree, both have the Z6 right now, both going to a different tire next time. I'm going to try the stones (023r, 016f)
BTW, I regularly got 8K from the rears and 10K front.

Well I'm not set in stone about the tire choice. I've run M3s and M-1s before, but I want something that'll get me more street miles.
Its the Z8s or Michelin Pilot Road 3s.
Anyone have experience with the road 3s and mileage?

Bought a used oem shock off of captainchaos (thanks again man!) and took it to Traxxion Dynamics for a rebuild and new spring. I finally got it on along with a 6mm shim. It's a great improvement but the front forks really need some help now. I'm still debating on installing the superbike bars while keeping the fairing so that'll determine what I do with the forks.

My Pilot Powers are here today, they are palpably softer than the Contimotions I had. The profile is way steeper too so they should turn in like crazy.
The preload adjusters I bought are to large in diameter so they hit the bars and don't adjust. A little clearancing and they will be fine.

Very sorry to here about your loss jmc.
So the Pilot Powers stick really well. The angular profile I mentioned made the handling sublime, turn-in was now and they never thought about letting go. I got them to 1/4 in chicken strip within 5 miles of new on cool pavement. I will not go back to sport-touring tires.

Also have a set of Pilot Powers, they've been great in the (somewhat) cold and wet this winter. The hawk really loved the 35F temps on the way to work this morning, just purred the entire way.

Took the back wheel off, removed the swingarm, replaced broken rearset, painted new stock rearsets, painted stator cover, painted front sprocket cover, removed all fairing, polished up rear wheel, fixed indicator and horn problem, put new indicators on rear, cleaned chain and sprockets, cleaned swingarm..... And then put it all back on

took about 90 minute ride, trying to erase shameful chicken strips on new rear conti motion. bike handling well at higher speed turns but i'm still not confident in tight mountain roads on the vtr. my nt650 has zero chicken strips but it's easy to lay over. it also has a set of german-made adjustable clip-ons with about 1" rise and more length, i may swap them out to see if it helps. have to remind myself to weight pegs and lean off vtr more, can't just put a little pressure on bars. love this motor!

I just went to Pilot Power from the ContiMotions. Those Contis never made me nervous. After ten miles of highway I took the Contis on a 20 mile warm up ride at 80-120mph and they didn't slip then or much ever. And I got about 4k out of them.
BUT. The Pilot Powers turn in telepathicaly and be more sticky. Making me laugh in my helmet.

Installed new air filter, grips, tank pad and FZ1000 mirrors. I must say the FZ mirrors are the way to go, they do have vibration from the twin but still i can actually see the tail secton of the bike, view improved by 1000%

Ordered, T REX Frame sliders, LED turn signals F/R, Diodes, Grips, bar ends, gas cap, SuperSprox kit, SS brake lines and clutch line, Dub bub wind screen, levers, and an new compact left hand control cluster. Should have about closet full of parts when I get home in acouple months.

Removed tank, drained all fluids, checked air filter, looked at bike, put it all back.. looked at bike some more.. sat on bike.. looked at bike.. went inside watched some tv, then looked out the window at bike again... went for beer, came home, sat on bike, went inside, wrote this...

Tonite was new RK Xring chain with JT sprockets in 16/41, up from 16/43. May go back, not sure yet.
Also went back to stock bars as I haven't run them in a year or so. The Helis began to feel too tall at higher speeds in corners. May go back, not sure yet.
Figured out my chain breaker was useless compared to a grinder and was not in fact a chain riveter. So I can't ride too fast until I rivet the master link. I think the duck tape will hold it for now.
Also went back to stock bars as I haven't run them in a year or so. The Helis began to feel too tall at higher speeds in corners. May go back, not sure yet.
Figured out my chain breaker was useless compared to a grinder and was not in fact a chain riveter. So I can't ride too fast until I rivet the master link. I think the duck tape will hold it for now.

same thing......broke Motion Pro tip and reverted to the grinder method....wasn't done yet.
overtightened the rivets and crushed one of the O-rings and had to order a new master link. 17,000 miles. forgot how to do it.

This is not very SuperHawk related but .. I still haven't tested the above tweaks on account of smashing my left foot against a steel fence at 20mph on my XR.
I still rode home 80+ miles, upshifting with my achilles. Still stopped for steak in Castell where an old feller gave me his cane because he couldn't stand to see me trying to walk. I am still using that cane. F a doctor visit, I'm rubbing dirt on it twice daily and putting the money towards mx boots wich I was not owning at the time of the alleged incident.
Soon I will have more nonsense to relate about the 'Hawk and I'm sure as sh t happy I didn't smack that one into a steel fence.

New levers from Hong Kong. 2wheels.com. Black with red adjusters. Only $30. Took about 3 weeks to get here. Got them from Ebay. Pretty cool for the money. Not perfect though,a little slop in the fitments.

Picked up a set of Dunlop Roadsmart II's at the International Motorcycle Show yesterday. Spooned on the rear today.
What a chore... The 6+ year old Qualifier 209 that was on the rear didn't want to pop the bead.
I'm used to putting on softer tires. Sport touring tires are so much stiffer than race rubber.
Still have the front to do.
Not like I can ride it anyways; too much snow here, but it's going to be the same temperature here as you guys are expecting in PA.

finally got another tank off ebay (the red one with black wings) oh and by the way the guy that sold it on fleabay was so misleading....he showed a pic of it (yeah only one pic) and had small ding on that side, however the side he didn't show had a lot bigger dent.GRRR... well it was better than what I had so I chewed my lip and set to work on it sanding and repairing it. After all repairs done I put 5 coats of black laquer and 2 coats clear on it. Looks better than a new tank lol. Then pulled the old tank off (didn't disconect the main hoses just tilted the tank back and unbolted the petcock assy) that way no problems hooking back up right lol. the biggest problem I ran into was removing the ***** fuel filter from the old tank , it just didn't want to come out although a little patience and a lot of time I finally coaxed it out with a knife. now waiting on tank to completely harden before attempting to lay it back and hook the petcock assy back up.
