Find myself low on clutch fluid as of late. I rebuilt the slave last summer. I have the rebuild kit for the master but haven't done it yet.

I doubt the master is losing fluid so may need another slave rebuild. What a pain.

Anyone have fluid loss and fix it with a master rebuild?

 

Loss? no, loss at the master would be uber noticeable (as I think yo already know).

If your going to work on the slave, replace it with an Oberon and be done with it..and yes rebuild the master as well......and hey as long as Im spending your time and money, get a stainless steel line on there as well. .

yup, replace the slave.

 

After rebuilding both, I've not experienced any leakage. You should have some traces somewhere if it's seeping out.

 

What a coincidence, I was just in the middle of rebuilding mine. I did not have any noticeable loss of fluid, but mine sat for a while and I doubt the PO ever changed the fluid. I have to recommend removing the clutch rod and cleaning it, there is likely a ring around it. A little cleaning goes a long way for smooth actuation. The little inner seal on mine was definitely not seated correctly though, the inner seal was near perfect. The cylinder bore was stained for sure. I changed the fluid last year when I got it, turd brown! I was looking at the Oberon, what is their claim to fame?

They have a really good reputation. I've never used anything from them so I'd let someone else vouch there.

And I do agree. During the rebuild, everything should be cleaned meticulously. Then a routine maintenance schedule adhered to. I change all fluids every spring which may be overkill but fluid is cheap and I like to tinker. Plus my junk is kept in an unheated garage.

If it was replacing a perfectly maintained OEM system with fresh fluid and a SS line... Id say not a huge difference at all.... Do I notice it as that was the situation I was looking at??? Maybe...... I think so but it might be the wallet talking. On the other hand it looks great, works great, has good service parts availability a warranty you cant beat (other then shipping back to the UK) And for what I paid and what i was going to put into a stock one (clean, strip, powder coat, rebuild all new service parts) I was ok with going new after market.
