Front + Rear Turn signal Wiring HELP!!

Hi there! I’m new to the forums so please bear with me. I have acquired a 2001 VTR1000F Superhawk. The guy I bought it from butchered the wiring for the tail light. Also fitted a unfamiliar under tail and LED brake lights(circle style). The problem is the turn signals just stays solid when activated. No blinking. I have changed the flasher relay to an LED one but still no avail. The LED brake light has 4 wires coming out of each (8 total). Colors are red, black, white and green. The red is wired to the bike green/stripe, black to green solid, white to brown solid and green to light blue and orange (turn signals) any flaws in my wiring? How Can I make the turn signals flash? This is really annoying and I have to get he bike inspected.

If its an electronic flasher it requires no load to flash, so with that, disconnect ail and turn signal, and use your test meter to test light to check the left and right signal wires |Check the green wires go to ground and the signal wires do not, and have on / off power when the signal switch is to that side you are testing. if yes, then connect a light to the signal wires and make sure they flash..
If not, then you have to trace backward till you find the issue.

Thaks for the reply! Yes the turn signal wires has power when the switch is turned on, on each side. The thing is, that the intergrated tail light does not have a ground wire for the signals. Only has one for the brake light itself. Could that be my problem? The turn signal only has one wire coming off of the tail light for power to the turn signals. No ground. Otherwise it works as it should, on/off with the switch. Just not blinking. Is there anyway I can add a ground wire for the tail light?

Ok so your trying to use BOTH the integrated taillight / turning assembly and regular turn signals? If so, the regular turn signals will need the green wire grounded and the signal input wire tied into the wire powering the integrated turn signal.. BUT you may need a diode between the integrated signal and the regular turn signal.

Again, Id disconnect the integrated turn signal, and then test the turn signal circuits Light Blue right, Brown left... to ensure the integrated assembly is not causing the issue.

No it’s just the integrated light itself. Used my test light and it does light up when testing the side I’m signaling. There’s power at the relay as well. The front does the same thing, which is also LED’s. I’m stumped because everything is getting power, it just doesn’t blink.

So with the rear integrated light assembly disconnected, the front lights do not blink?
Are the front lights hooked up to the correct turn signal wire and not the marker light wire?
Keeping in mind new parts might be new, but does not mean that are not faulty, perhaps the flasher is bad?
I would do a pin out on the flasher connector and test that you have voltage where it should be, and no voltage where it should not be.

If the integrated light assembly is disconnected and the fronts still don't flash..
  1. The flasher is not the correct type, or it is faulty.
  2. The front lights are not hooked up to the correct wire.
  3. There is additional power hooked into the turn signal circuit..like say, the PO connected BOTH the marker light and turn signal light power wires together
If the issue only happens with the integrated light assembly connected it could be a controller failure inside it

Correct no turn signal lights blink regardless of what’s connected or not connected. Yes the front lights are hooked up correctly. I’ve hooked it up plenty of different ways and only one way makes the lights work. This was done without the running light wire connected at first, since the LED fronts are only 2 wire. Yesterday I wired in the running light wire by using diodes (3 wire to 2 wire conversion) from a cbr write up forum. Still works fine just added the running light feature. Still no blink. The relay I just tested and the white with green stripe has power. The green has ground. And the gray does nothing. With the switch on or off. No power no ground. The flasher I have is this one ->>> https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/...al-relay-honda
when I put the oem flasher relay on it just clicks when switch is activated. No turn signal lights come on, not even on the dash. When I put the LED flasher relay on it gives me the problem I have now. Lights on, but no flash.

Well I would have suggested holding off on additional MODs to the wiring until you figured out what you had going on, but that ship has sailed.

Let me take a look at the wiring diagram today and I'll post some specific checks to do with a test meter.

Just wondering are you using LED lights, filaments or a combo of both?
When I used a non load (led specific) blinker it would do that if I had any filament bulbs in the mix. So maybe you are loading it up with too many bulbs? Just a thought..

I'm using a mix of LED and incandescent and all is fine. As always YMMV
Not unlike trying to tune a bike with unknown mods. Take off the non stock parts and see if you can get normal function.

Hey I just wanted to thank you for all of your help. @E.Marquez It turned out to be a bad turn signal flasher relay. I ended up taking the one out of my Civic to test and sure enough it started to blink. At a fast rate but never the less it was FINALLY BLINKING! Whooo! I went to Autozone to pick up a Novita EP28 LED flasher relay and it’s working perfect. Front and rear. Thanks 1million times again!
