charge question..

hi!
I have issues with my vtr, it drains the battery in a short while. im sure that the battery is wearnout. My ctek charger tells its broken.

I have a new battery, but i havent installed yet, whant to make sure nothing else is broken in the bike. my bike i vtr1000f -98.

I have mesured charge and im a bit worried, is this ok ?

On idle (1300 rpm) it charges 14,8.
other she charges 14,3-14,4.

If i charge the battery, i can start her and drive, but somethimes she's missfire and stops. If i charge battery she for 24 hrs she works again.

I know battery is broken, how about the r/r?
Is it normal that shes charge 14,8v at idle?

im from Sweden, english isnt my first language... Pardon for my spelling...

What is the battery voltage engine off? Take a look at the connector (wires coming from the R/R i.e. regulator/rectifier) under the seat at the back of the tank. It's inside the plastic sleeve. Is it discolored or melted? Also take a reading of battery voltage as the engine is started.
Could be the battery is weak, not holding a charge. Has the stock R/R been replaced?

Download the Bike battery charging problems troubleshooting guide from https://www.electrexworld.co.uk/acatalog/Technical.html

Also get the PDF Factory service manual which specs the charging system.

Get the old battery load tested / fit the new battery and run the tests - Getting a Mosfet R/R will certainly help give better reliability to the bike.

While better than the stock unit, it is still a series type R/R. Do the load test on the battery to eliminate that variable.
