See, this is a waste of resources. I posted pics of my mod in this very thread. I quick look would help you visualize that the stand isn't near the chain. Take a look, if you get around to it. (or do a search)

smoke ....i am looking at extending the sidestand, not lowering it. by extending it , while in the "up" position it runs along side the swingarm, therefore putting the bottom of the sidestand dangerously close to the chain. I do see how your mod would only lower the unit and work perfectly, but i am exploring all options.... thank you for posting pics as that is my next option..........

Not exactly. The first prototype was 2 plates of thinner steel. This worked fine until I tried a stand flip & then bent, to I made a beefer one out of like 3/8" solid steel with stronger bolts. It is pretty straight forward though. Just some quality drilling time. I had no problem cutting the stuff with a jig saw. Then just make sure to drill accurate holes & bolt away. What I lack in machine shop I must make up for in elbow grease.

Nah, the chain won't be a problem. My bike is raised much more than yours at the chain is still ok.

Just an FYI - the length increase was +6mm which has been a common mod for the VTR's since they were new. This provides a good improvement in the geometry without any drawbacks. Enjoy!
