Sidestand question.

The sidestand/kickstand on my superhawk looks like it is a little bent from the weight when my bike is resting on it. Is yours too? Is it really safe to sit on the bike when it is parked on the sidestand?

If your sidestand is bending...I'd say NO

Re: Sidestand question.

No, I am not sitting on it, but I just wanted to know if all the Shawks do that.

Mine seems to have a little give to it, but never enough as to where I get worried about it. I never sit on it with the stand down, but this also is due to the fact that mine seems to lean a lot after the ohlins rear shock + shim was installed. The ***-end is up higher now. I saw an old pic on a previous forum of a guy that had a small diameter tubular piece of steel welded along his sidestand, then painted matching black, to reinforce the sidestand. So I'm guessing you're not the only one who has worried about a spongy stand.

Re: Sidestand question.

Yeah, I never paid any attention to it, but my friend with a TL-R pointed it out and I was surprised. though I never heard of one breaking. I looked at the TL and it's sidestand is huge. twice as big as mine and very sturdy. I am not too worried. maybe I should lower my tail a little. It is on the 7th click up on the spring. If anyone had one break, let me know.
