Glad you made it home safe, that was a long trek. At least you picked up a suvioner, or a highway usage coupon, either way something to remember the trip by...

After a brief stop in Norfolk, VA I am finally home.

I had a super time up there guys/gal! Thanks so much for coming. We had some wonderful riding, no wrecks or close calls (except for the Ducati 900-something in the middle of MY lane heading TOWARDS me), and only one highway usage coupon. We finally got to put some faces and personalities to the forum names and avatars:

KickenChicken (Sheriff Big Dog....I mean Randy) is just as I thought he'd be personality-wise. Although he was the slower guy in the group I saw his confidence level go wayy up with respect to getting it leaned over.
Brian A is a lot faster than I thought he'd be. I have respect!
OhioHawk (Don) has a really cool job with a company that buys him really nice trucks! Great rider with a cool girlfriend.
Verne was the youngest guy of the group but we never really got an opportunity to talk much/ride together. I think he will be an SV owner soon.
L8RGYZ (Steve) was the resident old guy but really kept a good pace and loves to ride, likes Corona beer, and hot 28 year old blondes on R6's. (Damn, I hope this doesn't get him in trouble!)
Sgt Rock (Mark) is a fast rider too - part of living in that area I'd assume - but unforunately the chain is too short and the ball too heavy to get the entire weekend off.
dpenix76 (David) was just up for the day and him and his buddy kept trying to ditch us, but for some reason they would show up out of the blue where we were but like 150 miles away from the last place we saw them!

Now it's time to mow the lawn and get caught up with a thousand or so posts from the last week.

Thanks, David. Good riding with you guys.

I went up to Bristol, VA/TN on Wednesday after Greg & I made 4 real good sayonara runs thru the Gap. Then went & rode 421 (The Snake) at Shady Valley, TN.

Came very close to running out of pavement on a very steep, downhill, decreasing radius lefthand switchback. Seemed like I almost dragged an elbow thru there as I trail braked as delicately as I could. I remember hearing my voice going, "Shh... shh...shh...shh." Fortunately I never had to add the "...it!"
In hindsight, instead of looking at the white line, the edge of the road, the gravel, the guardrail... I should have forced myself to look down the road.

Then, I went back to the store @ Shady Valley again & bought my Snake sticker... figured I earned it after that. Plus the nice girl at the counter had some huge... )

Then rode 133 up to Damascus, VA, hit 58 over to Volney. This (58) was an absolutely beautiful, winding deep-woods 30-odd mile stretch that mostly followed a stream bed. Then up 16 to Marion.

Oh, yeah saw my first black bear in the wild just a couple miles before Marion. It was bounding across the road from right to left, put its front paws on the guardrail, then briefly its rear ones, as it jumped over & was gone. Cool.

Yeah, I was trying to be funny whilst throwing in some personality background in there.

Basically translated: "Mark is a highly experienced and fast rider and a family guy with a loving wife and three (?) kids. His wife had some important business to take care of and Mark, being the loving father that he is, graciously volunteered to end his weekend early to go home and watch the kids."
