newbie here

I just bought a '98 superhawk today with 10k miles on it. So far the bike runs sounds amazing. Where's is a good place to get a license plate bracket?

Edit: Welcome to the forum. Post a pic of your ride when you can. Is this your first street bike? How long have you been riding? Have you taken the MSF BRC?

I will post some pics when I get home from work....I still own a '07 ninja 250 that I have owned for a year and a half before that an older honda. I have been riding for a couple years now. I have not taken the beginner MSF course, but I plan on taking the more advanced course this year sometime.

I highly reccomend taking the MSF BRC course.

I took it shortly after I started riding 12 years ago now. And because of the CG I get to take it again next month.

Radioshack or auto parts store. Zip ties. You really don't want that thing on there very securely just in case.

You won't be shifting as much on the SH compared to the EX250, which requires an upshift about every 1.5 seconds. Its called TORQUE.

Welcome.

I've used them all and honestly can't tell the difference between regular and high test, so guess I should just use the cheap stuff, if you call $4/gal. cheap

Damn, highest grade around here is almost $8/gal. But that's 100 octane.

welcome to the forum!

I just can't see paying for the high stuff right now and I'm not sure if there is even a benefit for the SH doing so. I've never experienced pinging from running 87 and she seems to run fine with it aside from the occasional vtwin carb fart traits .

Yeah I am actually from the small town of Oaktown near the knox and sullivan county boarders.

I think that I am going to try the higher grade gas first and change it up the next few fill ups to see if the bike preforms differently.

Buying high octane gasoline for use in a low compression engine is allot like taking extra vitamins.... you are just pissing your money away. Use the cheap stuff and be happy about it.

The SH only has 9.5:1 compression ratio which requires only 87 octane, but I've always run 89 just to be safe, since I like to twist it once in a while.
Detonation (ping) may not always be audible and it plays hell with pistons.

I found out last week that my wife has been putting 89 in our 98 4runner and 07 Tacoma. I said "WHAT, don't do that".

The 250 was probably going to be sold in a couple weeks. My wife said she may want to learn to ride so I really don't know what is going to happen.
