Newbie help

Hey guys glad to see a forum like this it helps ensure me i made a solid purchase. I went to buy my first bike today and me being a big guy 6'3 275 football player i wanted a bike that could pull me around. I was looking at the GSXR 600 or 750 and then i came across a 2004 SH. This bike was on the guys lot for 3 years it had 0.1 MILES on it brand new. I finally talked him down with a helmet for $7,500. I couldve either bought a Suzuki gsxr 600 for $7500 with 5k miles on it or the SH. I wasnt intimidated by the difference in size of motor because i new it was a v-twin and the gsxr are overkill highly tuned fuel injected but i know the v-twin is better at lower rpm and the opposite for the gsxr. That being said how hard of a bike is this to ride? Im taking a class to get my license this weekend and just hope i didnt go overkill buying this thing. Im a very technical guy, im an engineer, i understand just about everything in mechanics but ive never rode a sport bike before of this nature or class. Anything i should loook out for thanks!

You will enjoy the bike. Best first mod for you will be suspension work given your weight. Stock fork springs are for a 160# rider.

Have you ever ridden a dirtbike or harley? Honestly the SH is one of the easiest bikes to ride out there. Do respect it though, you have to keep your head about you. But just as an example, a buddy of mine who had only ridden harleys borrowed my SH for a weekend, and 1 hour after leaving he called me to say that he didn't even know what a harley was anymore after how awesome the SH was to ride.
