Newbie Here and Happy!

Glad to find this forum, don't know why I've missed it.
Anyway, here now to share some antics and a good pic of my all original(except for the 2 bros. lower fairing) 1998 996 Super Hawk.
16K and pretty mint for a daily rider.
Rains a lot here in Seattle and is never over 80' so the lower is super nice.
Best to all,
Gunny

Welcome! Very clean bike. I like the lower.

It's nice to get a new member who's old enough to remember what it was like to ride before cell phones and soccer moms in minivans.

Thanks! have to say I stayed up way past bedtime last night reading so much good info.
Stuff I never heard or thought of that made good sense.
Yeah, I am old enough to be a Dad to some of the members, but I respect the knowledge of all the young guys and gals.
The sport keeps expanding, but I have been in my own little 996 world for too long.
Thanks for the nice welcome!
Gunny

Welcome from another old guy. Just for the record, I don't respect anything the young guys say.

Well I'm old enough to be the granddad of a number of members, and street riding since 1964. You're as old as you feel... Im referring to mentally, not physically, of course.

Yes this is a great group of guys, and some girls. It's the only forum I belong to, but from viewing other various forums, I think ours is the best. Lots of good knowledge and some good laughs as well.

Enjoy the torque!

Love it!
Doing the Bellevue Kawasaki "Three Pass Run" this Sunday.
Three mountain passes in one day ending at Paradise summit of Mt. Rainier.
I hope to make at least 2 of the 3!
Best,
Gunny

Aloha, Welcome to the forum! Lots of very knowledgable and seasoned riders here. I
Have learned a lot from them. Do a search for questions, just about everything has been experienced by members at one time or another. I also have a '98. Got over 65K
on her and looking forward to the next 60K. Treat her well and she will do for you in
return.

Indeed!
I have found there is almost no need to askl a question as someone most likely already has.
My 996 has 17,300 today and will be in the shop tomorrow for plugs, fluids, cable check.
Hoping to get a set of BS takeoffs from my local Kaw store(I have a mint 1993 KLX650 Moto/enduro) in the next week.
Anyway,
Thanks for the welcome,
Gunny

Welcome to the zoo.

Ancient farts seem to congregate here. For a higher "old guy" quotient, you'd have to join a BMW or Gold Wing forum.

Affirmative!
I am amazed and awed by the bikes and mods represented here, and having every question answered somewhere, but I keep reading posts for the real camaraderie displayed here!
Thanks for the warm welcome,
Gunny

I rode an '83 BMW R100RS for 15 years before I turned 60 (I go on Medicare this October). Then I bought my Superhawk. The VTR improved my riding and my attitude about it... much more fun factor.

I agree, been back and forth between pure street and big enduros for 15 years.
Still ride the VTR more than the rest combined.
Except in the snow, then it's the KLX 650!
Thanks for the welcome!
