Whirring sounds can come from the cam chains, gears, etc. If you can hear it that just means the exhaust needs to be louder!

Talking

Most likely the intake noise, you could be hearing the rush of air into the airbox. I used to be able to hear that - but now I have D&D exhaust....and I can't hear anything.

its the cam chains spinning. ducs don't do it cause they have self-actuating valves, and harleys have pushrods. be glad you have it. it means you can rev higher without a valve adjustment every 6k miles.
