Ticking/Tapping noise from the engine...help..
Hi everyone,
I recently noticed some ticking/tapping noise coming from my superhawk engine and it becomes more noticeable (gets louder) after the engine slows down from higher RPMs, but it goes away after a while. This has been an on-and-off problem for weeks now, sometimes it does it and sometimes not. It sounds like something's gotten loose, very similar to the sound of worn valves, like metal tapping. I'm pretty certain that this is not due to worn valves because the noise is coming from the bottom protion of the engine, not the top part where the valves are. The bike only has 4000 miles on the clock and it's already making me disappointed....
The problem occurs almost everytime I do the following: letting the bike run continuousily at higher RPMs (7000+) in first or second for about 5-10 secs and then slow down, let the bike run at idle and the ticking/tapping sound will come out and is more noticeable when the engine's hot. The noise will go away if I continue to ride and baby the throttle.
I'm no expert and have no idea why it would do that, so please let me know if any of you have experienced this type of problem before and how it was solved, thank you very much!!

Ever do anything about that ticking tapping noise? My Fire Storm does the same thing and I imediately suspected CCT problems. I brought my bike to the dealer to have the valves checked and shimed if needed and the CCT checked. The mechanic said the valves and CCT were like new and the bike was in perfect condition. I just kinda suspect the noise is typical for these bikes, like the hard 1st to 2nd shifting but that's another story.
