Water temperature
Hi,
I just bought a VTR 1000F year 2003/ Black 10,000 on odometer
In city drive, temp gauge indicate 101-103 Degree C.
the fan blow...everything seems OK
Seems to me a bit high, I leave Bangkok and climate is a bit hot like traffic Jam also.
My question?
Min-High temperature acceptable
I have the digital display, if temp gauge go over some level, any indication like flashing display or something?
What is your recommendation for lower that temperature or this is acceptable
Like change thermostat , water cooling liquid
Thanks
Jean-Marc

Welcome to the forum! The VTR does run a bit hotter than other motorcycles in part due to the side mounted radiators... You can try a cooling system helper additive like water wetter that does seem to help. I have heard the display will flash if it gets too hot but I have not had my 2002 get that hot.

Your thermostat should be opening around 77C and all the way at 90C. Your fan should cut on around 98-100C.
If this is what they are doing you should be alright. The Water Wetter works, so does Engine Ice

thanks for the tips, I went today to a big Import shop (Red Baron from Japan)
They told me the temp "normal" goes to 105C in City...quite hot for me.
the problem is at the red stop...sometimes we have to wait more than 15 min for the green to comes..

Welcome!
My 2002 Supahawk will run up to 104C in traffic on a hot day here in Florida (USA), but the faster I go the cooler it runs, so you should just go faster
15 minutes for a green light! That's crazy
I thought we had it bad back here in the USA waiting a minute at a time for a light to change...
