Quickturn throttle, I want more....

So ive done the quick turn mod. Ive gone as big as I can go in the stock body. I want more. I have a Wertz quick turn throttle from my trail bike.

It has a cam diameter of 60mm. Do we think this will be to much?

I think we call this "stage 3" and we go forward with the "testing".

Just put some of those accelerometer circles on your gear and move forward. Be sure to take notes.

And good luck, we are all counting on you........

Personally I tried a RC45 tube and then pulled it back out and went back to the stock 1\4 turn throttle tube.

With the quick turn units, throttle control becomes rather difficult. With my set up each expansion joint on the freeway caused a 500 rpm bounce.

So it is just another one of those things that might work for you or might not.

It is easy to try out, so go for it but also be ready to switch back if you find you like a little smoother throttle action.

IMHO the quick turn units are better suited for use with a I4 that is normally pinned wide open all the time.

I will take one for the team.

But it will be a bit before I do. I will potter around and fit it but of for a bit of surgery on my hand in 10 mins so wont be riding for a couple of weeks.

I'm comfortable with the stock too. When riding over bumpy roads, I like to use my throttle lock to hold the speed so it doesn't jump around as I am.

Well if you're undergoing surgery on your hand and medically disabled, then clearly this is a perfect time and you're the ideal candidate to test this because you can also certify it is handicap accessible/OSHA approved...

The throttle ramp addresses the snatchiness issue. Pretty much no diff from stock at small openings but progressive beyond that.

I agree a quick turn tube is awful for the street which is why this whole ramp fad started.

ehhhh PISH POSH!!!! i fitted the 1/6th turn HRC throttle tube like Mik has and its awesome. im fact i wish i had a 1/8th tube. if you cant keep a steady hand over bumps, get a harley with some talllllllll ape hangers on it so that you can just kinda dangle your hands there and bumps wont affect the throttle.

i guess if you have a sport bike and just "cruise" around on the freeways and never get er up past 4500 rpm, then yes the stock is all you need.

Like hawk I had the rc51 and returned back to 1/4 for throttle control in the bumpy bends ,much safer and better control

Some pretty harsh words and a few big assumptions but it's all good.

It is obvious that you still have issues with me because I told you my honest assessment of the suspension you were running and it was clear you did like my opinion.

Now to pop in and try to insult my riding or set up, damn laughable.

So go right ahead and assume I don't know how to control a throttle or that I never rev the bike over 4500 rpm and feel good in your little world...it truly is all good.

Then again maybe the issues I encountered were due to my bike rev'ing a bit quicker than most. The HRC kit parts (plus a few other unobtainium bits) play a big role and then carb set up plays a major role on this bike. While I have posted a set up thread a gave a lot of info, do you really think I posted all I know? There are reasons folks still pack up their carbs and send them to me for a base line set up.

So I stick by what I have posted, on my bike I didn't like it and ride better with the stock 1\4 throttle.

If you feel the need to start in with personal attacks because of it, knock yourself out as I find it rather entertaining.

Carry On.

Total joke and not I'm response to any post in particular. Joe usually makes the posts about the throttle tube pretty humorous so I followed suit.

In all reality one size doesn't fit all so of you like short turns great. If not, great too.

In all fairness, "pish posh" doesnt count as much of a dis. Although I am glad to see a pish posh on this forum, its been a coon's age since that was thrown around.

If I remember correctly, it's something like 39mm. I went with the R6 tube at 40.5mm and have had no problems with it at all, AND, I have lupus and RA as well.
