anyone know what the difference is between like a 98 and 03 fuel tanks? i have a 2003 with a hashed tank. everything i can see its just a difference in fuel capacity? will a earlier model tank work on an 03?

 

Fuel capacity is the same. Only in Europe was the tank enlarged beyond '01.


As for the internals, there are some differences on the inside, but will not necessarily affect function. You will have to make a very subtle mod to the fuel indicator lever since '01 to '05 have the fuel guage.


The float at the end of the lever needs to be bent from 90° to about 60° in order to clear one of the internal tubings from earlier model gas tanks. If you fail to do this, every time you fill up, your guage will only show that your half full. This tube on the Inside will prevent the float from rising all the way up to the top of the tank.


Other then swapping fuel guage indicator, and, bending with your hands the lever (if you chose to do this, it's not necessary) then it's a direct plug'n'play.
