Dirt in motor

I took the covers and oil pan off today. dirt in the pan, a little in the covers. nothing really on the oil pickup screen. Will try to take oil pump off tomorrow.

Took about 45 min to get this bolt out. Gotta helicoil this one.

Also, gotta get the left exhaust mount bolts out of the frame.

I took the valve cover off of the back cylinder. Did not see any type of debris up there. Will take off the other one and look at it sometime. I want to see how the oil pump looks on the inside. I will also use the bore scope and see what the inside cylinder walls look like.

I got the oil pump out tonight. Absolutely no debris inside the pump. My picture-fu is weak tonight, but nothing in the pump is good news.

don't worry the debris won't make it past the filter, so the most important parts are clean (bearings). Good luck and good work so far, keep it up

It certainly wouldn't hurt after you get it back together run it for a bit and change the oil/filter again to get out any remaining debris you don't see - much you would after the break in period or just rebuilt.
