revs

any rocket jockeys out there hit the rev limiter often? the twin's not an I4 so a lot of high rpms aren't necessary but taking it to the limit with the TBR's roaring so loud makes me think it's GONNA BLOW! tell me it's all gonna be ok...

it is very happy there, not on it, but close to the rev limiter. I run it to 10k all the time.

I hit the S.R.L. at the track a lot no problems yet although I try to avoid it as much as possible.

You guys are TOOOO funny....
Truth be told though, I used to ride an FLHP hog that I spent way too much bread on making it tasty ('80s) and with the big bore and stroke kit and gearing I had.....35 mph in 2nd had any female passenger REALLYYYYYY happy. As you would imagine, any passenger I was wooing got the treatment for miles on end....;-)

Oh, and on the rev limiter issue....I am thoroughly surprised. Why would anyone want to go way up there on a VTR? I'm asking seriously. There's not much power up there....
I'm good up to around 8500 and then it's time to shift. That's only when pushing it all the way too.
I'm confused.....

Ditto. I find the best way to stay ahead of the I4s is to short shift.

The only time I hit the limiter is fluck up shifting from 1st to 2nd. 2nd says no and falls into Neutral. Pisses me off everytime.

The hawk, at least mine, has the same amount of torque at 3500 as at 9000. The power only increases up that slope. Towards the end it tapers off, yes, but if you are looking for best accel, you want to keep it in the highest average horsepower in between shifts, which changes the shift point for every gear.

Well if you must know....on the track there is no time to be looking at the tach and the difference in sound between 8500rpm and 10500 isn't that different so sometimes it happens.
Usually it's when I'm in a hot corner and have already shifted before the corner, crank the throttle to get a good push and it doesn't take long to hit it.

And it's quite embarrassing after sneaking to the front of the lights ... in particular when the car you're sneaking ahead of contains some extremely hot goddess and you wanted to show off a bit

My VTR feels like it makes max power in the low 8k range and starts dropping big time right past 9k. I hardly ever redline it and I've only buzzed passed redline a couple of times. Those were missed shifts.

Thumbs up

Next time try standing up and hitting the balance point. Then you won't have to worry about rev limiters, just let it drone along on the back wheel.

I've tried standing up but that scares me more than sitting down. Besides i got the whole shifting part down now that i got alot of practice under my belt.
