Chain Recommendations

I've looked online but many chains are for 900 cc or less. Is there any chain that is particularly well suited for the Superhawk? I looked at the RK chain which seems like it would be ok. Anyone use this?

L8RGYZ is an unknown quantity at this point
DID came on mine OEM... I've gotten over 40,000 miles on it as of yesterday. I am now sold on DID.

Check the online microfiche on ronayers.com . I think they offer the OE kit with sprockets for like $200.

EK offers their 530ZZZ (11,000 pound tensile strength) with a 2 year warranty. The chain comes with 2 small plates that fit between the plates on the master link so you can't overtension the master link with your riveting tool. Used by mega HP turbo Busas, etc. Should last a very long time on the comparatively limp wristed VTR with less than half the HP.

CCs don't matter much anymore. You can have a 750 with 130hp nowadays. Compared to the 108 of a good running 'Hawk....

So just buy a decent brand name O/X/W-ring chain but don't spend more than $100. 102 links is stock. Don't forget to replace the sprockets at the same time. Stay away from Vortex.

I've been running a 520 conversion for 15k miles and have not had any problems at all.

Thanks for the advice. Just didn't know if a chain for a 600 would stand up to the torque of a 1000. Mine has 13,000 on it and the chain is outside the adjustment parameters. I think the chain is stock. I thought O/X ring chains would last longer.

Depends on how well you take care of it. I invested in a Scottoiler and my first chain lasted 25k.
