Turn signal issue

I noticed my turn signal acting really weird this AM. My right side front and rear are working normally. My left side front and rear are working fine as running lights. When I turn on the signal then the light in the dash pulses twice as fast as it should- the front signal goes out (does not burn)- and the rear flashes twice as fast as it should.

What do ya think??

your left front bulb needs replaced. That's all. (running light is a different filament)

That is what I thought also, so I swapped the front right bulb with the left and it is still doing the same thing.

You might want to check for a bad connection on the orange wire where the light's pigtail attaches to the wiring harness. Just inside the fairing by the forks.

Will do, thanks for the suggestions guys (even you Condor).

I was wondering if there was something stoopid that I was overlooking.

Alright, it is getting even weirder. Now the right front running light is not working but the turn signal is and the dash left indicator sometimes glows lightly...............

I checked all connections, swapped bulbs (front and back), checked fuses.....

I installed some grip heaters and pulled the hot from the small light in front. Could this have fried something?? The heaters are working good.

I wondered about that. I had thought about starting to replace stuff but I did not want to waste a lot of $$...

Turns signals would work some of the time, low beam in headlamp blew, instrument lights would come on for a while and then go off or flicker, wouldnt start like battery was dead then come back to life all of a sudden.

I also replaced mine with a GSXR rr I got off ebay for 30 bucks and followed Suberblings instructions.

Yours does not sound exactly like mine. Although I am not ruling it out. Maybe I can get her tore down this PM and check things out further.

Thanks for the info guys..

Well it is not the Grip heaters. I completely unplugged them and the turn signals are still going crazy.

How can I check the RR.

This is the response I got from Hawkrider when I was going through my pain. This is how I tested mine. My readings were WAY above normal.

I did notice one thing when I took of the rear. The PO created a bit of a rats nest were he took off the rear fender. I took it all apart and started checking turn signal voltages. When they were unplugged, one has continuous 12v (and the dash indicator is lit), and the other side has 0v. Not making much sense to me. Also when I turn on the signal with them unhooked, they both make the turn signal relay (sound) flash fast.

Now I am just as confused as ever. I am beginning to think it is the turn signal relay........

mine did the same as yours is acting a while back somehow one of the wires got crimped between the seat and tail frame and the signals would flicker real fast but if i took weight off the seat it would go normal check the whole harness and make sure theres no crimps any where

OK, figured it out, somehow.

I tore off the front and when doing so noticed that the right side running light was unplugged. Hooked it up and the left side was still blinking at a fast rate, plus I noticed the front was burning a little brighter that the right front. I looked the rest of the way through the harness and came up short. I decided to swap the bulbs for the heck of it. Everything now works great...........

Do we have a right and left side bulb??? It is fixed but I still do not understand why....

Oh Well.....

I think it's a bad turn signal flasher bearing. Sometimes they just free themselves up. Consider yourself VERY lucky. Them bastards are expensive!

It can't be that. They told me when I bought the bike that all the fluids had been changed, therefore the blinker fluid has to be fresh.
