Why should I wear full Gear all the time?

yes they can
most $40 boots ive seen are just pretty thing and cheap material with no armour or durability
my more expensive boots are made from very strong material and armoured, rash wouldnt be a problem as they wouldnt wear through like cheapies, and they are much stronger and come higher up the leg and support it better so would protect better from crush and dismemberment injuries too.
your just being dumb to be honest, you bail in those boots and they will be in bits before youve finished sliding/bouncing
but whatever, its your choice, could be the difference between walkin again and not but whatever

I have seen plenty of people wear through gloves, jackets, pants, etc.
As long as the boot supports your ankle, and you're not riding track, you're fine.
On the other hand, I think more people need to take pants into consideration. Obviously I sometimes wear jeans, but I know the risk I take. Others think jeans are perfectly safe, even though you can wear through them at a walking pace.
Gloves too. I saw some dumbass the other day riding around with Mechanix gloves, those gloves used to keep your hands clean while working on a vehicle. As if those are actually going to do anything.

I actually was involved in a horrible motorcycle crash, involving me flying off a cliff, and I was wearing work boots at the time. Not so much as sore ankles. They did their job, and do so as long as you make sure they are tight.
