Lindemann shocks: WP 3 way vs. Penske 2 way

Jim Lindemann just gave me these quotes for rear shocks:

Penske 2-way $795 2 weeks to get (made to order, for your specs)
Penske 3-way $1170 2 weeks to get
WP 3-way $692 2-1/2 months to get I can knock 10% off any of these prices. WP - Holland (not works performance) just won the last world Superbike round.

I was going to get a Penske- heard good stuff about them and made in the USA. What about WPs? $100 cheaper...

How easily can you get the shock rebuilt? I would choose from the place that could get you better customer service, rather than outright-cheapest price.

I would do the Penske 2-way and see if you can get one free seal and oil change (annual) or one free revalve in if you don't like the valving right off the bat.

i was in the same debate you are in a month ago.....the WP shock sounds great but the Penske will be so much easier to have service if and when that time comes. I got the double clicker and am very happy with it. Unless you are going to be racing and or doing a ton of track days the penske double is plenty

I'm venturing into unchartered waters and getting a german wilbers 641. It has with hi-lo compression (yes!) for around $700 on a group buy for my new vtec vfr; built to my specs not off the shelf with a 3-4 week order time. I didn't get the ride height adjuster or remote pre-load options to save money as I know how to shim and don't carry passengers. $100 rebuild service (1/2 off the first one!!!!) and 5 year warranty through the NJ importer. You can also have these custom shocks built longer or shorter to raise/lower seat height for very tall/short riders.

I'll post an evaluation once I get it. I've had both penske and ohlins but neither with the hi-lo option.

I've got Wilbers for 2 years now on my SHawk.
In one word - EXCELLENT!

Hi/lo is a smart thing to have. My first ride I had imression that I am on different bike - new shock swallowed all bumps without compromising handling in "spirited" riding. And I did ride plenty of uneven surfaces in 2 years without any issues with shock reliability. BTW - in Europe I have lifetime warranty from Wilbers. I did not go for height adjustment or remote, but since shock preload is stepless adjustment I can change ride height in matter of minutes.

Here's an other option from Penske... I have it and it works great.

http://www.traxxion.com/store/detail...oduct_id=SPORT

Traxxion Dynamics Sport Shock by Penske Racing Shocks $599.99.
This shock is the complete body assembly of an 8900 Series Penske Race Shock, but without the reservoir. It is spring preload, ride height, and rebound damping adjustable. At any time, the buyer can easily add either his/her choice of 8100 or 8700 reservoir should they decide to go racing or just want more performance. This shock comes equipped with the correct spring for your weight.
