PVM wheels
PVM wheels
Worth it?
I have a set of polished rims on by black storm (previous owner did this) and I have always fancied a nice set of aftermarkets.
Having looked around I have homed in on PVM rims - so which ones would you guys go for and do you think it is worth the money?

I like the 10-Y personally. If you want to wait for development I recommend these guys for magnesium: http://www.durraniracing.com. Prices aren't bad either.
I like the 10Y's too - the 20 spokes are a bit too pimp my ride and the 5 spokes aren't special enough.
Have you got a set of rims from durran racing yourself?
Prices are brilliant compared to Uk but once all the import taxes were added on there probably wouldn't be much difference to the PVM cost

Durrani's
So I emailed Durrani Racing, and they said that the first 'zine that will test them is Sport Rider. We'll see what Kento & Co. say. I wouldn't want to buy aftermarkets until after someone like Sport Rider tests them. They liked the PVM's as well as the Marchesini's in their most recent test (but it's two or so years old. See it on http://www.sportrider.com). Mostly the cush drive caused them to like the Marchesini's more, but the PVM's put up some great Moment of Inertia numbers (the magnesiums almost as low as BST carbons!), as well as lower weight. Spendy? Oh, yeah. Worth it? Oh, yeah. Reducing MOI in your wheels and brakes is the surest way to make the bike more flickable with fewer side effects towards instablity at speed. (Not that a good steering damper isn't a great idea anyway) I'm waiting on the Durrani results. Also, Dymag sent two of their latest carbons to Sport Rider for their "Giggle Machine" GSX-R1000 project bike. The reviews were awesome (as is the price! OUCH! May lead many to remember Aerosmith's first hit - Dream On.)
Well...
Another "flickable" tip is changing rear suspension links to lift the rear a bit, but with the seat height already 2.9" taller than my inseam is long, that's a non-starter for me. I already feel like a fifth grader when I'm paddling around parking...
