headlight shimming

this should be an interesting thread. one of the reasons for my projector not being bright enough is because its aimed too high and i cant turn the adjuster any further. when i hammer on the brakes it lights up the road much better. but its still ****. so while i wait for my replacement to come in i want to try and improve the lighting a little. how can i shim the headlight to aim it down a little? i cant remember off hand how it attaches to the bike but am i able to use a handful of washers of some nuts in there and push the top of the light out a little somehow?
