Guess its a Yamasakihonduki- Wow since I began visiting this site - To read the quotes an dKnowledge poured out from the "ELDERS of KNOWLEDGE" -- I have nothing to commit on the morphadite hawk.. The seniors always manage to take center stage...

LOL! I never read to the end of this thing. So what did you do with the hawk after you bought the supermotard, Nick? This was one of the most creative projects I've seen here.

Very interesting idea imo. The adventure bike class spans a wide variety of bikes with varying power to weight ratios. Some people like a fat bike that does good on the highway but can handle a trail, and some people like a good trail bike that can do the highway.

Gorgeous...

He built a gas tank that goes under the seat.. awesome work.

Here's the build thread: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=288338

Now tell me that wouldn't be fun to tear *** down a trail?? Not convinced, ok check this out:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0d3B7MPqUg

That would be stupid fun!!! It doesn't even have off-road suspension, just big knarly-*** knobies front and rear.

I think a lot of the people knocking his bike probably haven't ever ridden in the dirt. Set up right that Hawk would be like ridding a monster truck. It may not be agile like a dirt bike but with enough power you could just pound the trail into submission with all the hp and tq.

WTF are you talking about. I'm a senior for sure at 67, but hardly an elder of knowledge, yet i can tell you of my experiences, some beneficial and others not woth a ****. Keep the cup half full and you can learn from anyone. I have been riding and working on bikes off and on since i started riding 45years ago and comparatively I don't know my *** from a whole in the ground. and I really don't care if someone knows more or less.

If you think being "center stage" is important, you may have a poor self concept and need to compete in an area where you have considerable expertise so everyone will gravitate toward you. Otherwise, just be honest and say what you have to say and don't be concerned about how others view it and/or you, and just keep on gittin it.

It is only right that experience and knowledge be given respect. Personally, i respect others and have learned much from all levels of ability and experience, so get a life and forget about this center stage ****.

That's a wicked cool SV650. Just wicked. I REALLY want to do spoked rims at some point. They just look so old skool on a sportbike.

Noob, if I ever feel the need to run from a cop while on a grocery run this is the vehicle. What a blast! The "urban interpretation" of the driving surface is open to question. Bravo!

I still have the Hawk, it's hiding in the garage right now. If I get really inspired, maybe I can build a custom frame for the hawk to overcome the weakness of the frame and the limitations of the rear suspension. I can also probably use different head tube to allow a correct size stem for the triple.
On the other hand, I want to try sticking a different engine in the Husky...it's too buzzy for my liking, and I prefer fuel injection. If I can stick a Ninja 650 engine in it, I'd be bumping power up about 50%, and engine weight would probably be up about 40%

I feel odd bringing this thread back from the grave. Especially since there are no pictures. And I never even saw this thread until tonight.

But, as for the front end modification... Wrapping the stem with aluminum in order to make it thicker to fit the triple clamp is WRONG.

Too many things wrong with that idea. A thin sheet of aluminum mashed into the hardened steel triple will wear out and loosen. Not only that, you are using dissimilar metals.

Even through I haven't seen the pics I am sure it looks interestingly good. But I don't think your ideas were thought out.

I would use a Chromoly sleeve heated and pressed. Then turned on a lathe to fit. But that's just me, maybe?
