Hey everyone! Im glad to finally be a member. Amazing site yall have. Thats right, Texas redneck here!

Heres what I have, 2001 hawk with around 14k on her. Just got out of storage from over a year (I know, I know. Life happens tho) so i gotta clean the carbs out yay.
I need to know what all you seasoned pros think I need to do. Obviously CCT from what ive been reading...what else? Is the PAIR removal worth doing? Any other ideas for making it better?

And lastly, this beast was running awful hot last time I rode her. Remember its Texas so 100 degrees plus happens all summer and I ride aggressive, but I recall hitting 230 and even 235 on the temp gauge many times. Is that normal???

Thanks guys, proud to join the pack!

Yes, 235 is quite normal... I'm running close to that here in Sweden... And it's not Texas heat...

When the display starts blinking it's hot... Until that happens all is well...

E I'm in fort worth.

Thanks tweety.

Mostly worried about that tensioner as I remember some chatter that I was thinkin was valve clearance until I found yall. Just wondering if I should fix it while I have carbs off?

YES!

It's easier to do while they're off since you should pull the rear cam cover to make sure your timing is set correctly. I installed my rear first after making sure I was on rear TDC and locking the cam chain with zip ties to the cam gear. Then you can install the front since you have the carbs out of the way and it's a straight forward procedure. I did the pair removal also since I didn't really like the decel popping.

Anytime you can make the most of working on the bike, I do... I like wrenching and MOD'ing what I drive and ride.... but I like Riding and driving more.

YES replace the CCT now while you have the tank and carbs off.
