As pictured: 94.5 Miles.

Sorry about the crappy picture, thank you googlemaps and screencapture.

you are doing that right except the frequency could be increased a bit. Makes you wanna go to work and glad when it's over. It's a win-win!

Well it's not bad but.... first you should add Swanton, then head up Bonny Doon to Pine Flat to Empire Grade Down Jamison Creek then 236 through Big Basin (you can also swap in China Grade through there) and then up 9 but that is just me.....

I just love 236, those nice broad roads and it's relatively clean. A little bit wash-boardey in places but otherwise really nice. I'm gonna have to take your route after this last spell of spring showers pass!

Sometimes I take black road up from 17, but that is not my favorite road because it's usually crowded and small roads, but man I love those turns where you just drop the bike in on the right hander- uphill turns and just let the torque take over your brain!

I wish I could go up Hamilton more frequently but it's on the other side of the bay for me =( I have to be able to convince myself that I'm just taking a tad bit longer route and not going out of my way for extra freeway miles! I don't even like being on 1 for that long, but it's the only way logically once down 236 back up.

And I can justify it because mysteriously enough I get better gas mileage when in the twisties. Who'da thunk it

I'm gonna try to get a cam for one of my next rides so everyone can enjoy and get a true sense of why motorcyclists should live in California =)

And mike, I'm not usually in the North-bay, but I'm heading up soon, know any good rides north of SF? I've been looking around on the HRCA and BARF, but I haven't seen any really really really jaw droppingly fun looking.

Long way?! That not the long way... That's the friggin short way... The long way to work is when the boss calls you around lunch and asks you where the hell you have been all day... And you go: "Ooops, i knew there was a goal for me today, i just forgot which it was..."

BTW, that's a true story... Not joking... Boss wasn't happy... But he did laugh his *** off when I explained... He's also one of my riding buddies... Not working there anymore though... (Not cause of that...)

well................
FINE! You got me there =) but I am frequently 20 or so minutes late because of the ride!

and mathematically speaking I think that's fair enough to call it the long way to work! almost 10x the distance, but 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 000000000000000000000000x the fun

I am a big fan of the page mill rd. run, again, due to the superhawk's insistent desire to be pulled out of a turn. Great place to scrape the pegs too because it's not reliant on really high speeds.

On my VF1000F I scraped the frame on that road (and not as in the bike was on her side) talk about a harrowing experience! Too many guys have gone down expecting a different turn style up there so it's one of those rides that I save for extra special occasions.

I'm quite excited to see how much more fun page mill is once I get better brakes.

I do the same thing as often as possible... 2 miles straight to the shop, 52 miles the fun way!

Unfortunately for me the twisty route would have been an over and back on Ortega Highway, then up the I-5. But that route is clogged with commuters during the time when I commuted before retiring. Instead, I rode (or drove) up PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) through Dana Point, Laguna Beach and Corona Del Mar every day with fantastic views of the Pacific Ocean, instead of going up the I-5 freeway.

But since retiring a little over 2 years ago, I ride Ortega during the off hours on weekdays, between commuter times.

That's why I love having mountain roads that are not frequently over-crowded with cagers. Most of the time you can just fall in with a group and then part whenever your route goes elsewhere.

I don't like the longer straights of 5 because of all the wind there I wouldn't mind on say a GL1200, but on a SH, you really gotta hunker down and power through the wind gusts from around trucks.

Your ride does sound pretty sweet though, I've been meaning to go for a ride down there since my buddies and I found a killer spot while surfing closer to LA, the temp I think would get me because I like full leathers for anything other than commute.
