Brighter is way safer and smarter than smaller. Its a motorcycle and the #1 reason a biker gets crushed is "I didn't see him". Those look good. Are they amber when lit?
I did the winker mod a while back in the same fashion. The resistors arent really the way to go imho. but got too small of a set. I dunno if they are even legal. Photo made em look huge. But the back of mine looks great. The front needs a spacer of some sort.
guys are right about visability. Ill be changing mine if I find a better looking pair.
In other news I'm back on the bike. Its rich. I really need the dynojet kit or to just bite the bullet on tjr FCR's. Problem is my car is getting 2000$ in mods while the engine is out. Rods flywheel balancing and a better ECM. Along with fans and stuff.
But I gotta say the vtr has been super reliable.
I finally replaced my stock turn signals with something a little more modern and streamlined. These aren't the smallest units, but I think they are among the brightest, I used a LED compatible switcher unit rather than squeezing big resistors into the bike.
Brand and part number for signals please... And source if you have it..
Thanks
Getting ready for a trip up to North Georgia, 10th year in a row with ZRX buddies. Want to bring the Super hawk too. Full caliper teardown fronts and back. All new seals, lots of other little bits. Didn't check the front master when I was ordering parts. Dumb move.
got the calipers all cleaned up, buttoned up. Got a firm pedal within a minute on the rear. Front is a different sad story.
Lots of corrosion in the area outside of the bore, cleaned up with a brass wheel on a Dremmel. Bore is fine. No more rubber boot. Inner piston seal doesn't seem to be working like it should, couldn't get anything approaching a firm lever. Many hours, even attempted bench bleeding them. Master just isn't working. Even if I ordered the rebuild kit, can't get it here until 4 days after I leave. Rebuild kit is $42, $11 for shipping. Got a Nissin radial master off of FleaBay for $70 shipped. Love the one I have on my ZRX. It will be here 3 days before I leave .
New piston. No pitting!
Radial master delivered a day early. Great shape, cleaned it up a little more. Installed, bled it in about 5 minutes. Very firm lever, I'm very happy.
No clearance issues.
North Georgia mountains here we come!
BTW my hawk is sick shes got all sorts of carb farts and back fires. I feels it may be that valve I cut short. But oddly got nasty after winter so the carbs have to come off again. waiting to do the stick coils. I have the money to do FCR's or injection if I wanted but unfortunately yet again the lotus decided to play dead and is getting a full race build. I did however get the suspension adjusted! I like it very much!
I done did it..... I implore you not to break the rules which I broke... Being a showoff.
1. Respect the VTR and let the engine warm up.
2. If your going to do something not safe at least have warm tires...
3. GEAR GEAR GEAR.... If I had my gear on there would be a scratched leather nothing else...
4..... The second most important always focus on your clutch and CG...
gear!No need to tell me how stupid it was my motul t shirt is wrecked and I need the following: Paint a break lever and a winker... But hell let the ribbing begin! I am fine by the way the leg and just a scratch on the arm is all.
Yep yep and yep.... I dont know why I put on my shoes but no jacket and no pants.... this happened right in front of the house. Tore my motul t shirt. And I had racing later in the car which hurt like hell. The VTR honestly didnt get it that bad.. I nailed the same side cover and have a spare. Ripped the cover off the stupid winkers I have so its time to get new ones. Shaved a bar end and the lever all of which I was going to replace. The only real damage besides my pride and clean record are some srcatches... But I am painting it next month anywho.... Really just feel dumb because I know damn well better.
So The story is I was going to do one wheel lift and put her back away.... That is exactily what got me in trouble cold bike and no gear.
My pride as a safe rider hurts more than anything. Only reason I am sharing is to say wear gear even if its for a quick rip around the house.
Went to MotoSocial Toronto - my first time getting out there, crazy turnout and met some cool people. Saw this beauty (pic below) but didn’t get to meet the owner.
Finally had a chance to take off the tank, drain it, and put the vacuum hose on the BACK of the petcock instead of the bottom.
THANK YOU Hawkrider for putting this little gem in your sticky -
The small vacuum line does NOT go to the bottom nipple on the petcock. It goes to one on the back of the petcock. Common mistake there.
Love these interwebs for stuff like this.
Took her for a 30 mile ride, running fine with new gas and proper vacuum line attachment. Had to cut off a half inch, the line is 20 years old and got stretched out at the end. Didn't stay on the back of the petcock well, but it does now.
Brakes work great after the rebuild, CBR100RR master works great. Need to get a black shorty lever for the clutch side now.
Been riding an inline four for 10 years. Big twin is very different in a cool way.
After sitting on my bench for 5 years, I think these are aged perfectly. LOL! Haven't had carbs open in 9 years. I'd say they were pretty darn clean! Yep, this is why I dug in. Neglect... Sorry old girl.
Pair of fresh ones! I'm seeing a bit lean. This is all in prep for this saturday. My hawk will be strapped to the rollers so I can get a air/fuel curve.

While it does look a bit lean. I'll bet you're getting good mpg. I see what looks like, more than I would expect, carbon on the bottom of the threads/plug body. Would like to know what I'm seeing?
Cleaned the carbs. Of course when I pulled them last night I broke the rear choke cable attachment, and then discovered the front was already broken. What a stupid design, Already PayPalled Jack Flash/Josh, will have a set of the brass ones and a set of thumb screws.
175 Main jet in the front, 178 in the rear. both 45S for the pilot / low speed jets. Rear main was a little dirty, front pilot was gunked up. Broke out the gallon of Carb Dip, let them soak for a few hours. Have new fuel lines and vacuum lines on order, a T for the rear vacuum line and a boost joint fitting for the front head so I can sync the carbs when I install.
Seems like the best time to install the manual CCT's while I have easy access to the front one. Will do that in the next few days. Have to tweek the TPS when I button it back up.
Busy kid here.
Ape Manual CCT's ready to install. Ordered on of these brass fittings on the back head.... ...to go on the front head where this allen bolt is. There are bright rags covering the intake tracks now.
PT Matt2 that may be the most thorough run at a vtr I have seen yet all at once. I can only imagine since mine is my daily transport so any job has to be ready to go in the morning.
Good job.
What's wrong with you, Floyd? That exhaust note made me wanna get up and dance. Now I have to take back the garbage comment I made in another thread. Sorry Jason.
That’s what I thought. It sounded awesome! I was very please with the charts. He gave me advice on a/f too. Need to shim my needles a little and should be good to go.
