What did you do with your SuperHawk today?

Brought her inside last night after rescuing her from a theft which happened the night before... pinpointed that my issue as of late was a fried R/R so picked one up on eBay, with direction from E.Marquez. Now, the waiting game.

Decided it was long overdue to be started and run up to full operating temp in the driveway. Once I heard it idling a few minutes I just had to go for a short ride. Weird riding with snow visible on lawns and rooftops -- streets only wet.
Spring - come soon!!!

Me too Matt.
I ordered a pair of LED bolts to mount my license plate with. I'm already sick of seeing the clunky stock light back there.
Almost ready to commit to a pair of Leo Vince SBK cans for the bike.
It's dry today but overcast and cold. I've had a cold since Monday. Guess I'll ride her next week.
I envy you guys down in Oz.

Found a missing exhaust clamp bolt!!! It was a nice stainless socket head cap screw bolt also... So, I found another one and use Red Loctite on it. Then I removed the other couple that were still there and Loctited them.
Also replaced the choke mount bolt with a polished stainless SHCS
Getting ready to place an order with John Sieg of Motorsports fasteners for enough stainless bolts to do the clutch slave, sprocket cover, and rear brake clamps.
I'm also looking around for a stainless M10 x 1.25 x 20mm or 22mm long to replace the ugly stock countershaft sprocket bolt

James, I got all my bike specific stainless fasteners from eBay. They were all nicely labeled ziplock baggies with the all the correct fasteners for the entire bike (engine covers, fairing bolts, etc. Oh, even had the little screws for the controls) with clear directions on where each bolt goes.
I'll see if I can find the auction on eBay for ya. Was a lot cheaper than buying each one seperately in stainless.
Edit: I found it. Great price. Click here

That is a nice kit! Thanks!
The guy I work with is super cheap, and he polishes each one before sending it out. I wouldn't be surprised if his kits were the same price, he's that cheap!
Thanks again!

Changed my oil (Amsoil 20w 50), ordered a pair of MCCT's finally (instead of the much wanted Sargent seat) going to have the valves inspected/adjusted, MCCT's installed and carbs synced sometime next week so I can finally stop worrying about destroying my engine with only 26,000 miles on it. I really want the seat but figured what good is the seat if the engine is blown.

I'll register it for the first time this week or next and then be able to stretch its legs a bit.

Its been plugged into the Battery Tender since Nov!
Looking out the window at a Blizzard of Snow!
But watched Why We Ride movie last night locally on a big screen and it was great. I'm itching to ride.
Hoping for warmer weather to melt the snow, ice & more snow. Have to have 2 feet of the stuff from the last storms & with the one now.

I got my Leo Vince cans delivered. The things look beautiful. I can't wait to put them on the bike and let more of that V twin music out.
I've been reading through the carb setup sticky and it sounds like if I run 2 long intake horns then I don't need to be blocking one lift hole on the carb slides. Since the additional low end that setup produces appeals to my lazy don't-want-to-downshift nature, I ordered a pair of intake horns on fleabay. Anyone want the short one?
I'm hoping that 85XX Hawk's setup will work good with aftermarket cans. He really doesn't specify an exhaust configuration as far as I recall.
Today I'm going to the Progressive Bike Show in Seattle.

I ordered one of these: Ebay Item 181071725700, and one of these: Ebay Item 161123667886. Gonna use them with the early model shift linkage rod, and some stainless screws.
I'll update the Rod End thread I posted on when I get it all done...

I polished the countershaft sprocket bolt, and painted the countershaft sprocket washer (black). I'll get it powdercoated in the future, this was a quick fix.
Really sets off that area of the bike.

Hit up FLeabay for a set of APE MCCT's finally! Been dreading the job, but I know I want to get it done yet this winter so if they sit on my work bench long enough I will get up the ambition to install them. Bike is almost completely the way I want it. That's kinda scary though cuz I tend to sell or trade my toy when they get that way. HEHE.

The bike is in the shop getting the Leo Vince cans installed and the carbs rejetted. I gave them the parts and info to do 8541Hawk's carb setup, but they are going to dyno it for the best results. I confess that I know too little about how CV carbs work to want to mess with them.
They have already adjusted the TPS for me and are going to install a tall intake stack on the front carb. I'm hoping that we won't have to mess with drilling or filling the slide lift holes. They also are going to grind out the obstruction at the right side collector junction as well. I'm hoping to get it back today before the weather turns bad again.

I washed mine last night in readiness for a new double bubble screen and Delkavic cans tomorrow.
I'm looking forward to finishing this 7 day shift so I can get some garage time then go photographing "Scarlett" in all her blinged glory

Rode it to a prayer meeting at church, and fell in love with the newfound precision shifting after the rod end mod.
Filled it up with 90 octane non-ethanol, then dropped by Dairy Queen and picked up 5 Dilly Bars for a family dessert. They fit in the trunk with room to spare!

225 mile ride today (40-45 degrees, 20mph wind, and occasional rain, yeah it was cold, lol) to test my new to me Sargent seat. Wow what a difference. I have put 10,000 miles on the stock seat. This is so much better.
