regulater died, what are your thoughts on this unit?

the other day she died on me, the bike was making a high pitched nooise that sounded like a bad ground coming through stereo speakers. i pulled over to have abreak, tried to fire her up and she lost power. yanked the seat and noticed the main fse had blown, so i replaced it, fired up and went home. today i had her running in the driveway warming up and then suddenly she died. so again i checked the fuse and replaced it and it popped instantly, and then another 4 or 5 popped. so i removed the reg and was able to get power into the bike again so it looks like the regulater has finally passed away. so im trying to get one asap cause i desperatly want to ride. is it worth getting an oem unit from honda? or what about this one?

id like one thats gonna last, my bike is an 01 so will the unit for the 03-05 work?

I once did a reverse lookup on ronayers.com Many Hondas use the same RR, including some CBR600s. Take a look and maybe find one on ebay from a late model bike that you think is safe. The newer RRs seem to be ok - they are finned.

Thanks for the link nath. I just came to from a wine coma on the couch. Lol. Does post 8 say negative first then positive? I've always done it the other way around was told it was safer for the battery.
