ouch! insurance..
Well living with roommates sucks, I somehow didn't get my bill for my motorcycle insurance, and my insurance lapsed.. Now when I call to get it back State Farm wants to DOUBLE my premium because the bike has been a "uninsured vehicle."
WTF?? Nothing else has changed, same bike, same rider, no moving violations.
It's enough to make me consider moving all my insurance (car/renters/motorcycle/life) to another carrier.

I had something similar happen (different scenario, same outcome) when I bought my car. Needless to say, I was not impressed. I am usually very polite and cordial on the phone but not that time. I told them in no uncertain terms that I was not a criminal (as honest as they come) and would not be treated as such. I then asked the rep to speak to her supervisor or someone who had the authority to overrule this ridiculous situation. Lo and behold, 30 minutes later I got a call back telling me everything was ok. I love happy endings

Same boat here, I had a problem with one company and they doubled my insurance rate, as soon as an insurance company cancel your insurance for non payment, it's more than double. My car was 2400 $ a year, I told them to F' off and could not get another anywhere else. So I did not take any for 2 years. Then I tried again and they got me some 1300$ coverage after I lied to them, now I pay 700 $ a year same car. My bike cost me 240 $/year

Got it figured out, I talked to an actual agent and she was able to get me back at my old rate.
BTW: from online quotes, Progressive was cheaper, and Geico more expensive (even more than my doubled rate)
