One of my buddies works at an oil distributing company. He get me the case of Mobile1 racing 4t for 41.50$. I just ordered 2 cases from him. Best oil for the mony.

 

I run the 'regular' Mobil 1 in both my VTR and my Nighthawk; they both seem to like it just fine. I just switched to Purolator filters which are very good quality and much less expensive than the Mobil 1 filters.

And I agree that black, being the absence of color, must therefore be the fastest! Also the stealthiest - good for law-enforcement evasion ;-)

My red bike seems to draw too much attention to my bike and causes other riders to "target fixate" on it and then crash into me.

I'm running Repsol synthetic race but next time will be Mobil 1 synthetic.

 

I did some dyno sessions with my gsxr 750 comparing regular oil vs mobile 1 10w-40 syn. Back to back, same night, same dyno, 3 runs each, was worth 2 hp doing 2nd and 4th gear roll ons so there were no shift spikes.
On another note, I am picking up my 04 Superhawk monday, what is the best oil weight to run in this motor? I live in Texas, so it is HOT in the summer and only down to the 20's in the winter.

 

prolly a 20w-50 for hot weather.

+1 for M1 15w-50. I use it in All the bikes and the Goat. For the Trailblazer I use the Rotella 5w-40 and whatever is on sale for the winter beater car.

As for the fastest color, since black is the absence of light that means it constantly absorbs photons, thus making it the heaviest. Red is a "power color" so it's the fastest of the stock colors. Pearl white with black accents is the fastest of them all because....well.....because....um.....that's my bike color!!!

white looks cool! hawkrider, is that a rare color? I've not seen it much. As for engine oil , I use 10W40 AmericanMadeSyntheticOIL, in ALL my 4t bikes,in most temps, but will switch to 20W50 in June/July/August for mid-Atlantic climate temps.

 

Litemoto, it's actually a Suzuki white pearl with just a hint less pearl than original.

 

i have been using Motul for years and i really like it! its not cheap but its the color of anti-freeze and smells nice

i also have firsthand experiance in how well it works - we were in pismo beech a couple years ago and the one-way bearing on my raptor was dying - it would make unnatural and scary noises when i would crank it. i was running castrol standard oil at the time and it was really bothering me. after riding a lot it was time to change the oil - had to do it in the back of a kragen parking lot - i put in the motul synth stuff and all the noises just stopped and it ran really well the rest of the week. it made a clear and noticable difference even with a broken part.

i eventually replaced the bearing with an aftermarket one

 

Hey fellas, sorry to bring back an old topic, but what difference does it make between oil weights and weather? Also, I know that Mobil makes a Vtwin formulated oil...so... why does it seem like no one here uses it(20w50)? It seems the "what oil is best" question seems to have a subjective answer, so allow me to speak on behalf of riders who use this bike for commuting mostly... no track days, mostly commuting in warmer temperature climates (i.e. Los Angeles), and hits the canyons 3 or 4 times a month.

I'd run M1 20W-50...I do and it works great for me in the FL heat commuting...

 

Page 96 of the Super Hawk owner's manual (at least my '03 copy) has a chart for viscosity and temperature. 20w50 is approved for all temps above freezing, 32 F.
