i've been using rotella T synth - 10w-40. but for the summer & track days i'd like somthing a little thicker ...

i've read all about how mobil 1 (red cap) was the oil of choice but they have discontinued it.

is this what everybody ( that uses mobil 1 ) is using ?

I've used Mobil 1 "15-50","10-40" (High Mileage formula), and "5-40"(Truck & SUV formula) automotive oils in my bikes with no ill effects such as cam lobe pitting, flaking, or scoring. As the government keeps raising the bar on what's allowable for emissions, oil companies are constantly reformulating and cutting back on zinc, phosphorus, and other components that used to resist wear. Aftermarket camshaft companies and old car and bike restorers are seeing many problems related to the latest government mandated specs. Kawasaki owners have been debating the oil vs. metallurgy problem for twenty years or more.

Here is an article a friend emailed me a while back about motor oils... some good reading in it.

http://www.highperformancepontiac.co...oil/index.html

The author also noted the following in the forum tiopic:

<<I can't say much right now (because I don't have all the information compiled), but I can accurately
state that current-spec (CJ-4) Rotella T STILL CONTAINS A SUITABLE AMOUNT OF ZDDP, and that
Amsoil's AMO 10W-40 and ARO 20W-50 still contain the "good stuff."

I'm an olive oil man. I used to use that popeye oil, but it's energy conserving now and will make your spatula slip.

amisol or mobil 1 synthetic

Hey Guys? Local bike shop stated that they use amsoil synthetic but offer mobil 1 synthetic for those who ask..........Did some research about amisol and that seems to be some bad as oil.

Amsoil the first synthetic, made to last 25,000 miles...thats what their website claims and from other forums about motor oils in general it seems to be the antidote... therefore i will be going with the amsoil for the Hawk
