Next mod?

As I mentioned in another post, I just sold my DT200R. As a result, I am open to spending a bit of the money on another mod for the VTR. As most of you know, my VTR is already pretty "modded out" and the list of possible options is not quite as long as it once was. Anyone have a suggestion for me?

Points to ponder:
- would like a USD front end but my current set-up works quite well (GV kit, all aluminum triples, carbon fender,....) and allows me to retain my lightweight magnesium PVM wheel so I think I will stick with the current fork set-up
- while the EBC 320mm rotors I have on now work quite well, I have wondered about (selling them off) replacing them with a set of Braketech rotors (likely the Cobra SS version as the iron would be too prone to rusting) mated to a set of ZCOO pads (very highly touted by those hwo have tried them)
- I would love to shed some pounds with a lightweight subframe and/or fairing stay; such subframes are non-existent from what I have seen and the Graves fairring stay I had could not be used with the headlight so that is out too
- a carbon tank would be nice but the only one that sems ok is the ETI unit and its larger capacity makes it look bulbous; it is also un-Godly expensive and would need to be painted to boot (more $$$$$)

Forgot to add, items soon to arrive/waiting to be installed:
- Proton signals
- Apex riser clip-ons (aluminum, lighter than the Helis I have on now)
- carbon frame protectors (unadultered bling)
- Spider grips (D3s are nice but not as comfy)
- OEM air filters (protect engine from ingesting dust and dirt)

My goal is not so much to improve the speed (quite fast already, and I only ride on the street, and need to keep myself alive and keep my driver`s license). I am just looking at fine-tuning it further and making it even more of a grin generator....

maybe a brace for your swingarm? If I had all that done, there would be one thing I was missing that is on my to-do mod list, and that is finish the polish job on the frame!

oh, and fuel injection!

Do you have a brace for your front forks? I don't remember seeing one... that may take most of the difference out of a front end swap.

Good eye! No brace and it`s not from a lack of looking or trying to find one. I have searched long and hard (and continue to), all to no avail (have e-mailed Superbrace a few times, and many other brace builders). If anyone where I can find one, please let me know....

FWIW, the 900RR fork tubes are 45mm and quite sturdy as it is (no screaming need for one) but I would like to see how they react to a brace

Not a big fan of underseat exhausts (for a number of reasons, namely less than optimal weight distribution, and *** warmer side effect...). As for the 2-1, been there, tried that. I am now running a full Akrapovic system. Enough said.....

SSSA: no functional benefit, adds weight and lengthens wheelbase unnecessarily, not to mention I would lose use of my uber-light PVM mag wheel....

I like my electric water pump - even if my stupidity forced me to it. Freed up a few horses (not that you need that now...) and the fact that got me an extra ~3mpg was really nice.
You might think about that...

what about a full hid kit,with the housing,lens etc etc.....
and maybe add the radiator air rams,and maybe a steering dampner.

Already have the radiator ram air kit and steering damper. As for the HID kit, while there is some value in it, I am quite happy with my Easter Beaver relay kit and Hella 100/55 bulb.

Weight reduction! Get a custom aluminum subframe done up, perhaps something without passenger accomidations. Throw a Nava tail on there with a solo seat.... how much weight will that save?

Need to keep the pillion as the GF likes to come out once in a while. I picked up a 900RR aluminum subframe and was looking at modding it to fit with the stock VTR tail. However, upon close inspection, I realized it would require some fabrication whihc in turn means tool (and skills?) I don't have. I may revisit the idea (have it and a stock VTR subframe sitting in boxes in the garage) and farm it out to someone.....

My main idea right now to ditch (sell) the 320mm EBC race rotors (and RJL pads) and replace them with Braketech Axis Cobra (SS) rotors (no oversize available, so 296mm it would be) coupled with ZCOO pads (said to be comparable to HRC pads, which I used before and were incredible). I am just wondering if this would be akin to trading a dollar for four quarters, however (at a cost of a few hundred dollars). The main objective of the exercise would be to shed a bit of weight (smaller rotors, lose the caliper relocation brackets) and possibly improve the braking slightly.....

Maybe you could take some inspiration from Superbling. I still think, years later, that this is one of (if not) the best retrofit(s) I have ever seen.

MIKSTR,

Get some aftermarket wheels. That'll make your suspension work better, give you peppier acceleration, help you to brake faster, and make your bike flick quicker.

Can't beat that mod with a stick!

In that case I'd take a riding school like the Disalvo Speed academy or something and ride the wheels off of it.
