I'm Back!

Hello everyone. I had gone away (primarily lurking) for awhile as I sold my superhawk last winter - I thought a gsxr 600 might make a better track bike, so I bought one and did a few days on it.

What a mistake that was! So needless to say I'm back to my beloved Honda v-twin. Although not a superhawk but a RC-51 trackbike. I havent done any days on it yet but monday will be the first at Summit Point.

So VTRDarren, wherever you are out there...the race is back on!

I just wanted to add that the site really looks great & I like the upgrades.

Welcome back to the list...

The RC51 looks like a real nice ride but was out of my price range - Sure do like my Superhawk and am very happy with it.:-D

Friend of mine just did a trackday at Pocono and I asked him if he saw a red hawk there. Nope. Now I know why.

It seems we all go this direction eventually. I bought an '02 RC51 as well. Kept it a few years and then bought a CBR1000RR. Sold the RC. Difference is, I STILL HAVE MY VTR!!! Traitors!!! Blasphemy!!!!

wow I've been away from the list for a while. I got married this summer, ruptured a disk in my lower back 2weeks beforehand!! Needless to say I didn't spend as much time on the bike or at trackdays this season. I made it to three of them, but tentative ones since I was unsure about my back...

Funny I noticed your post, since I just posted up a listing of mods from my bike that I MAY be selling soon... I have the same itch you did, considering buying a track bike and using the sale of my vtr to fund it... I'm on the fence really, but think it's time. Heck, maybe I need to pick up a track ready rc-51!

We'll catch up next trackday season for sure, I'll be out much more I hope.

On the positive note she is extremely supportive of my riding habit. When we bought our house I suggested selling my bike to raise extra funds.. she said "no way" since she was afraid it might cause me to slip into a depression , lol. I have other examples... but I'll consider myself lucky for now (we'll see what happens once we have kids).

I've got a VERY understanding wife as well, as a matter of fact she started my addiction with a X-MAS present 2 years ago!! I consider myself extremely lucky considering she's a trauma nurse.

when I started looking to upgrade, I think my wife knew that whatever I got, it wasn't gonna be comfortable for a passenger so I got her on her own 2 wheels. she's got a little GS500 suzuki. rides the hell out of it too. she's already had it topped out. (I can still pass her in 4th gear hehe) kinda scares me sometimes. but she took the msf course to get her license so she's probably better trained than I am.

Very cool. Next summer I need to get her out at least on the back of a comfortable bike so she has a chance to appreciate what it's all about. Her one experience so far has been on the back of the vtr. I even put the corbin backrest on for her peace of mind, but the goofy passenger pegs I had on there (to clear the high mounts) were too high and she was just too uncomfortable to enjoy it.

If she shows any interest in riding herself, I'll teach her on my dr250s, but we'll see if the interest is ever there.
