Carb Ajustments....with a twist..?
Carb Ajustments....with a twist..?
Here is a funny situation that happened to me while I was working on my track bike (Bird of Prey).
I was making some carb adjustments with jets etc., and doing the final adjustments with "Jack Flash's" pilot jets when the engine started to die on me. I was getting some strange adjustments the further I continued to where the bike just came to a complete stop and would not start. I am thinking....is it a coil failure???....what with both cylinders....nah...can't be. WTF.... Now let me tell you that I have the "Pair Check Valve" blanked off (for reduction of exhaust popping) and while I was making adjustments, obviously the carbs are going to "backfire" and do some "Sniffing" until you get the correct pilot adjustment.
So what the hell happened to have the engine come to a complete stop, when everything seemed to be working well?
What had happened is at some point, the carb had backfired and blew off the "Vacuum Hose" that is needed to activate the fuel valve.....and I simply ran out of fuel in the Carbs.
Had to start the whole final pilot jetting again...but I was glad it was only that.
Just thought this is a funny story.
