Cant see where I've been

This is a bit basic but i hope you can help. Recently bought Firestorm ( Superhawk) and although I have read that the stock mirrors are not very good in my case for "not good" read "bloody useless". Particularly on motorway rear vision is very limited. Has anyone fitted longer mirrors? Presumably extenders are not appropriate for fairing mirrors. Is it possible to fit a bar end mirror- i have seen a single one on other sports bikes. Do they replace the bar end weights? Any help would be apprecated

I can't help you with specifics, but I would imagine someone makes one for the bar end. I've just gotten used to tucking in my elbows and it works for me.

There are a lot of threads on this matter. I believe the general consensus is FZ1 or R6 mirrors work decently. I put on mirror "risers," and it helped (but looked hideous). The bar end mirrors can get fuzzy when you're riding.

Don't know if this information came over from the old RLZ SuperHawk forum, but one of the RLZ members made a batch of trick Mirror extenders and had the black anodized. You basically unbolt the mirror from the base mount add the 3 inch or so extender and bolt the mirror back on. It all looks original and just the inside portion of the mirror shows your shoulder, say 1/2" or less. I don't know if HawkRider knows who the former member was or if he has the machinist drawings. If so maybe someone on here has a Machine shop connection and could make a batch for those interested.

I will try and take a picture of mine this weekend and follow-up with a post of the pic if someone else doesn't first.

I don't have a drawing, but I have the actual extenders. The guy was Don Herve and I've not heard from him in ages. I'd be willing to take them off and do some measuring if someone is willing to run a batch.

I bought a pair of those $3 stick on "blind spot" mirrors at Advance Auto. I got the adjustable ones that pivot around a little.

I stuck them on my SH mirrors and now have reasonably good views of the road just traveled.

I'm a big fan of those little convex mirrors. I have them on the SH and the CBR as well as my truck and the wife's car.

Timing is everything !!!
The mirrors arrived today...and I am leaving for my bike trip to Maine tomorrow morning. Got the right amount and size combination of washers
and they bolted on just fine. I think they look a little goofy compared to the
O.E. mirrors, but at least now I can see behind. Very well I might add.
Thank you very much Superbling !
I also appreciate the price and the way you packaged them.

FZ1 mirror feedback:
My 1,600 km trip across from Lake Placid NY, through Rutland VT, Lebanon NH, up the coast to Old Orchard Beach Maine, back by the NH Kangkamangus trail (112) and back across Vermont was terrific !
We (7 riders) had fantastic weather and a really good ride. I am really glad I did the mirror swap, as the leader of the pack I was able to see what was going on behind all the time. At low rpms they shake a bit, compared to the shorter o.e. mirrors, however it's a very small price to pay for good vision & safety.

Thanks again !

ps. Just when I impressed myself by planning this great trip, we come across two gents on sport tourers in a breakfast joint...asked then where they were headed they explained they are on their way to tour Newfoundland, then will cut across Quebec and Ontario to Minnesota and back down to Boston.
Some dudes are real givvers....

Mission Complete. Mirror extenders for Superhawk/ Firestorm are manufactured by SW-Motech and readily available. Sent off for some today-now i will be able to see who's sneaking about behind. ( I hope!)
