Mike, I'm glad to hear you're ok.
Whoever is holding "mock races" at a track day is looking for big trouble.
If you want to go racing, go to school and go racing.
That **** has no place at a track day!!
Heal up well and get back to basics.

Mike, so glad you and the bike are okay and that you learned something from the experience as well. From the sound of it, with the bike landing on you, you may have saved some parts at the expense of some pain.

No problem having an opinion Rand, but if you saw how they run it you might, I say might think differently. The race wasn't the problem and you don't HAVE to run it, it's just for fun, 6 laps to get an idea of what it's like to be out there in a more competitve nature. There are 3 groups like normal and it's a very "friendly" race, I've never seen anyone even get stuffed at all. I do understand your stance but like I said I skipped 2 before and lots of riders do skip them because in my case anyway, I didn't feel ready for it.

Luckily the frame sliders did thier job and they took the brunt of the impact but I did slow it down a bit. If it wasn't for the frame slider I think I would've been much worse off then I was and I think it was the only reason I got my legs out from under the bike.

Just took the bike out for a spin and everything seems to be in working order!!

That's cool. You know what I'm picturing. A bunch of wannabe fast guys that don't have enough track time to be in a racing situation, while the racers sit on the sidelines becuse it's too dangerous.

It's still better than doing it on the street, but people die at track days too. I was in the same situation you were earlier this season, where I could work my way through the bunches in the B group and would end up leaving them and riding alone. My next track day was going to be with the A group, where I would get "schooled" again.

Congrats on the bike. Awfully nice of you to cushion it's fall like that. Must be love!

Of course we would do anything for the ones we love! Actually I assumed the same thing you did but it's really the oppisite, it's mostly racers out there practicing and everyone else is too scared to do it. I'm also moving up next time to be "schooled" again, if I was in that group I would've been too slow to crash like that! I've always said I'd rather be the slowest 1 in the group learning from the faster guys then the fastest learning nothing new. Although I did learn a lesson anyway.

I actually pieced them together myself,(cbr1000rr bases shimed with R1 sliders), but they were the nocut type. I think I'm going to get the ones on Ebay next since the bolt I used got bent.

Interesting. Just wondering because I'm using those T-Rex no cuts. (Hopefully I won't have a chance to tell you how they hold up.)

Those are the ones I was going to try, I have thier stands and was very impressed with them. If the base is the same, which I think they are. they should work fine but here's to not finding out!
