I dunno, cafe bikes are not much more than a history lesson. Sure they look cool but everything else about them sucks in general. Oil leaks, shitty carbs, ******* points, ancient wiring, adjustable pos tappet rockers, frame flex, drum brakes... etc. You have to be a masochist to enjoy one. It's like a woman that looks great but is like talking to a sheet of drywall. Cool? Only on the surface.
The GSXR on the other hand, while mostly populated by douches, looks impressive and can back it up too. Ride one at a trackday and you'll reach nirvana every lap.

The youngins' walking past a classic to drool over a late model 600 is like the music industry.
The kids have never been exposed to what was really good in the past, only exposed to what the makers wanted to sell today for profit today. Thus you see lust in the young for crappy noise in the earbuds and narrow focus bikes under their butts that satisfy a niche.
I'd write a check today for a Ducati if I thought I could trust it to get me to point 'B'. Sorta like lusting after a gorgeous woman, can I trust her to be with me tomorrow?

my 1098 has been every bit as good as as my rc51, superhawk, four of my gixxers, xt350. it has been much better than my 98 gsxr750 and 96 zx-11 which both had issues.
i have had it 1.5 years and did 10000kms. i treat it the same as my japanese bikes. it is solid. highly recommended.

Just something to tool around and just enjoy. Guess I am reaching that
"maturity" age. A little variety never hurts anyone(except maybe in a marriage)(no offense to anyone!).

honda cbs are def a classic. the first bike i owned(previously mentioned) was a 1982 cb750. it paid it's dues.
gsxrs are classics too. 25 years at the top, and the classic term is earned.

I love the Britten, for what it is. It is two middle fingers to manufacturers from the garage of a kiwi. More modern then bikes 10 years younger than it. I love the bike because it was the heart and soul of a man.
As for the cb350four, to it's merits:
Incredibly smooth, narrow, light, nimble. It runs as smooth as a bike much younger than it. I have ridden plenty of four cylinders, but I loved this one. It was a middle weight with capable of hwy speeds and long range while light enough to be a joy in a small town. I cannot, repeat, cannot count the number of bikes that I have ridden. I would have to look a complete list of manufactured bikes from 1950 on to even get a clue to the number of different models. This was a top ten, for me and for 2 others in the same situation. I guess I am weird, so I will give an example of this for others to argue: Vstrom 650 vs vstrom 1000, I pick 650.
