Doesn't seem to go very far under the surface, kinda just below. Imagine running into the odd rock outcropping?

I think it would be more fun for it to be more like a real hydrofoil. Have a fin that can change pitch that stays below the water surface about 3'. Of course that would limit where you could operate it in shallow waters so maybe make it retractable?

Kind of like the old hydrofoil chairs of the 90's...

Imagine a couple of guys tube fishing and that thing comes breaching out of the water 50 feet away.

divingindaytona is an unknown quantity at this point
They covered this on the discovery channel the other day. It looks like tons of fun. I also noticed that water was leaking into the cabin from the cockpit seals while they were underwater.....concerned me a bit

Those things are kinda fun. You can do anything on it that you can do on a wakeboard. The guy that developed it was a skier that is now a parap... para.. ****.. his legs dont work. He wanted to be able to enjoy his life long hobby still, so he came up with this... at least that's the story I remember.

thing that sux about them is.. they are VERY sensative. Very little body movement causes them to react. If they get too high on the foil, they suck air.. and SLAM! back down. But when you get used to them, they are very smooth to ride.. even through the choppiest water. It's weird at first, you see the rough water and expect it to bounce a little.. but nope! It just cuts and rides like it's sliding on nothing.. like you're floating.

BTW.. I'd buy one of those Seabreachers.. If I had an extra $100k laying around (have to buy the racing one ya know, and mod it to go deeper and longer)

I saw them about 8-10 years ago. I think advertised on the cover of Hummacher-Schlemmer. Then I lost them for a while.. I guess while they were working the kinks out.

Anyone ever tried one of these Scuba-doos or X-Bobs?

You don't need a dive cert to use em yet you have your own tank of air. You are only tethered to a float; To keep you from diving too deep?

Here is a video of them in action....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnXEn5OtxP8
Not too fast, seems like an underwater scooter.
