vtr temp gauge light

Hi,
can anyone tell me why the red light is on on my temp gauge, don't have an owners manual.
Gauge reads normal, light comes on when ign. turned on.
only had bike a few weeks, love it, must try & get owners manual.
any answers appreciated,
thanks Jack.

A possible explanation is that the light is not really on. A lot of time mine looks like it's on in certain lighting conditions, but not when it is shaded or at night. I've never seen mine actually on, so this is just a guess.
