That sounds like the water pump seal/bearing is starting to go... You should probably think about having it replaced by the dealership or get the parts and do it yourself - I seem to recall you will need access to a press to get it removed and the new one pressed in though.

its the water pump seal thats leaking. you can use a large C lamp to press the impeller in and out of the case if you don't have access to a press.

How bad is it seeping. This is a noted characteristic for the VTR1000. If it is a little snail trail every once in a blue moon, dont worry about it. If the leak becomes more prominant, then look into replacing the waterpump seal. My 98 has over 30000 miles on it, and I never had more than a couple of dribbles here and there.

So while i was out riding todayi noticed that my fan was not kicking on, probally why my bike was hot, probally why it leaked. Tested everything accoring to the book and came to the conclusion that my fan is junk. Ahh poo.
