Swing arm pivot nut
Swing arm pivot nut
Okay in my on going ordeal I need to replace my left foot rest bracket. How do I remove the swing arm pivot nut? Is this just a brute force thing, or is there more to it?

Just apply force in the normal loosening direction. It's tightened down pretty hard. I always use a cheater bar to help. Yow may need to hold the bolt with a wrench from the right side too.
1/2-inch drive sockets are best as it's torqued to 69 F#, so stiction makes it tough to budge. Be thankfull its not the right side footpeg bracket you need to replace because then the pivot bolt has to then come out too (remove the rear wheel and tape the threads on the axle bolt to use to "drive" out the SA pivot bolt)!

Swing Arm Bolt
One thing I learned when building my XR400R into a Street Motard is that when purchasing any dirt bike or dual purpose bike take along a ratchet set to try and move the swing arm bolt.
If you can't rotate the bolt (not the nut) in the swing arm there is a rust, lack of maintence problem with the bike and run away quickly or try and get the bike at a much lower price.
CRF-X, CRF-F, CR, XR, XL's are notorious for seized swing arm bolts and are a real bitch to remove.
I have seen CRF450X owners cut the swing arm bolt at the frame to remove the swing arm and toss it in the trash in order to save the bike!
Using a press to push out the bolt works sometimes if not the swing arm is junk, it seems to be an electrolysis problem between the aluminum and the hardened carbon steel swing arm bolt fusing in the middle of the swing arm steel spacers.
With the Hawk having a aluminum swing arm you may want to do this before buying the bike.
