i got a pair removal kit about a month ago, decided to do it about 3 days ago. now time to test out. took it for a ride yesterday and every time on deceleration, i get bad back fire popping sounds (loud). i thought this kit was supposed to eliminate it ?

took off the old pair plates and didn't remove the reeds, i just put the new closed plate supplied over. took out all the old pair stuff and blocked off all the corresponding hoeses.

running high mount 2 bros exhaust. im not sure where to go from here. i was just thinking of going back stock. anything i forgot im sure you will tell me. any help would be great. thanks

ps i have been looking around about sprocket size ? the back one on my bike is a 41. is this stock ? started talking to my buddy about sizing and im not sure what stock is

 

I'm not sure what the closed plate is (are you reffering to the part with two bolts that go into the valve cover?) but standard PAIR removal asks you to remove the reed assembly, take the little screw off of the reed support plate, flip that plate over so that the reed is permanently shut, then re-assemble everything.

 

Thats what I was thinking of doing. Ill try it and go from there. Give me a few days because of work. Ill report back

 

I know what ckoscin is talking about, I bought a pair of those block off plates for my SH a few weeks back. They replace the "lid" that normally covers the reed valves, after which you can remove the entire assembly and plug the airbox.

I will say that my bike with OEM pipes and a K&N air filter didn't backfire at all after I fitted the plates. BTW, I think the reed valve parts should definitely stay as their rubber edges help keep an airtight seal.
