OEM CCT question

I obtained a new OEM pair of CCT's free. I am going to install on my 05'. There is a metal tab where the bolt head would be normally. I looked in the service manual and they show a cam chain tensioner lifter but that's not it. I attached a pix. I assume this tab is a way to keep the spring fully tensioned. I just don't know how to release it once installed. Anybody done this before?

It's to hold tension on the spring.

After it is mounted pull back slightly on the key and it will pull out of a slot and be able to rotate.

Some just pull it out but then the plunger slams into the chain follower so I pul it back until it wants to turn and then unwind it until it bottoms.

Ok, I take it that once it pulls out a liitle it is slotted so you can rotate. Does just come out after rotating?
