New Issue

I replaced the R/R a few days ago, and today I got to take the bike out and ran into more issues. It starts, but once I start it, the kickstand light doesn't work. Then when I put the bike into gear, the bike shuts off. Its almost as the clutch isn't being recognized. The R/R is off of a 2006 R6.

I don't know where to start with this one?

Side stand switch might be the problem. Check your connections.

Kick stand switch loose / unplugged? I believe you'll see it down at the base where the stand bolts in, there will be a plunger that gets pushed when the stand is up (not near my bike, so apologies if I'm thinking of something else I rode).

Trace that back and see if its disconnected somewhere, it should have a plug. You can also unplug them and jumper the bike side (not stand side) of the connection with a paperclip to simulate the circuit being closed. See if that makes it behave any different.

Its ok down by the kickstand. I am going to pull the seat to check the other plug!

Its fixed. My guess is that the side stand plug wasn't seated all the way (the one under the seat).

Good that you solved the problem. While you're under the seat, it would be a good idea to check all of the connectors and add a bit of dielectric grease to each of them.....corrosion never sleeps!
