For the most-part, is it surging when the bike is cold or hot? What RPM range?

Same here, surging in the lower speeds - 10-25 mph. I poked some holes in the stock pipes and I'm getting the poppity pop when its cold at slow speeds too. How to richen??

You can also shim the needles if you still have the stockers in there... #4 brass washers work well for that. the ones I put in (1 per carb, stock exhaust still) were approx .025"

PAIR description, etc. is in the Knowledge Base. Is the popping on accel through the pipes or through the carb?

Yup. Running lean. Rejet or shim the needles.

Thanks for the feedback. Fiddled with the carbs a bit, cleaned them (seemed like some residue in them?) blew out the filter and meanwhile i had drilled out the pipes. For whatever reason the thing is running way better than before. Sounds great too!
